Don't know but I have a 6131 connected via HDMI and caller ID works fine. Must be something else wrong.

I am wondering if anyone has the home communication menu on there 6131.

Menu 6-1-4

you should then get the broadband setup menu

I don't have it, STB has software V167

it is shown on the bell web site here http://www.bell.ca/support/PrsCSrvTv_DTHHelp_6061Guides.page#4

thanks for the input guys

I wouldn't doubt it's coming. The fiasco with the last round of updates to the 9242/9241 has likely delayed things.

So last night when I decided I'd go and watch a recorded show on my external HD, I get this message that my 6141 receiver has just detected an external HD (Yeah like it's only been a year!), anyways, so now inorder to be able to continue using my receiver and the external HD, Bell needs to reformat my property with this new software that they deployed to my property since I own my receiver.

I don't get why Bell feels they have the right to deploy software to their customer's property and delete information from HD. I don't use this HD just for Bell PVRing, so I don't get why Bell feels they can just deploy virsus, (cause basically, it's about the same!!)..like do I have to install a virus check on my HD that's attached to my bell receiver to protect my information from Bell's illegal software deployments, and as we all know, most of their software is poorly written and causes more harm than good.

Just contacted bell for a second time, no one seems to know what "home communication" even is. I also get told "you can't remote pvr with that you know!" I know that I want to use it for PPV to be sent in. I was told it is in the works but the web site info is ahead of what they are doing right now. So take it down from the web site until the feature is there for us to use.

What is the home connect menu supossed to do?

It allows you to setup your reciever on your home Internet connection.

Here is what it can do.... You do not need the home connect kit for it to work

I recently attempted to mate a Iomega Prestige 1.5 TB EHD with my 6131 w/o any success. Unfortunately, an onscreen message informed me that the 6131 only supports EHD's up to 1 TB only. I thought I had read on this forum of one member who was able to get a 1.5 TB to work. Sigh, I guess it was wishful thinking that I could upgrade my present 1 TB for even more capacity. Hopefully, Bell will see fit to release a future FW update to accommodate larger EHDs. Over time, it really doesn't take that long to use up those 135 hours (HD recording) on a 1 TB :(

I had the exact same issue. The problem seems to be related to the compatibility of your specific hard drive. I replaced the 2 year old 500 GB Samsung drive in my enclosure with a current Western Digital 1TB (Green) drive and the problem has not occurred even once since the change...
Great... I did see one post about Maxtor not being compatible (months after I bought the darn thing). I guess I'll watch for the LaCies to go on sale at Worst Buy or Future Scrap. The Maxtor that I'm using meets all of the requirements listed by Bell (and in these threads), but the 6131/EHD combo just isn't reliable.

Yesterday we installed our new 6131 receiver and new Samsung LED TV. Amazing quality with this combo. However, one feature we miss from our 6100 receiver is the UHF remote. We enjoyed the ability to use the remote from our bedroom and now we are unable to use the new IR remote from another room. Are there any adaptors or other methods to regain the UHF feature we lost on the 6100?

Yes you can by a UHF extender, I believe that The Source stock at least one model.

Hello everyone,

Can this create a real problem in a long run by recording and deleting programs with a EHD? If I'm asking it's because you can do a defrag with a PC to eliminate holes or free space on the disk but you can't do that with a receiver. Any thoughts?

My second question, is it possible in any way to transfer recorded programs from one external hard drive to another? Thank you.

Benītö.

Can someone confirm that the 6131 does not experience the same issues as the 9241?

Are you planning to use it as a PVR?

There have been a lot of people with issues with hard drivers, mostly it seems to be with compatibility. I used a drive with my 6131 for a bit, but got concerned that the drive never ever shuts off, so the drive life can't be too great. You are more limited with the 6131 than the 9241, but I didn't really have any problems for the short time I used the 6131 as a PVR. After I stopped using a drive with it, a while after I noticed that I couldn't set timers on it (just for auto-tune), but a quick reset of the memory on it, and it's been great since. It's never frozen, and I use HDMI with it, with no problems. YMMV however.

9241 offers dual tuners, is really the main difference. But if you just want to watch TV I wouldn't bother with a 9241 for sure.

Software V168 is out now for the 6131, the connectivity features (Broadband and HomeComm) are enabled.

Remote PVR then? Does the Home comm actually do anything now other than CID?

Remote PVR? Good question maybe someone here could try it, none the less the receiver should be able to order PPV through the Broadband connection.
As for HomeComm all the receivers in a house with this feature can dial home to bell (to upload PPV and confirm location) through one receiver connected to a phone line using the home AC receptical wiring.

I happened to notice this last nite and hooked up my LAN cable to my 6141 and refreshed the connection on the unit. I did get an IP number and then went online to the Bell page and the page said that my reciever was not approved for this function. :( I guess I'll have to wait some more.

Hi,
Is it possible to copy recordings from one drive to another? I upgraded the external drive I use with my 6131 but would like to keep the pvr recordings I have on the old drive, preferably to move them to the new one. From what I've seen in other posts, people seem to be saying it can be done but haven't found any detailed instructions... can anybody help here?

(edit: nevermind, found the answer in another thread :)
