Hi

Is there a way to change the default PVR frequency to 'once' instead of All Episodes? Also is there a way to just click record on the guide without the popup asking for questions?

thanks - new customer to Bell after suffering with Videotron for many years :)

What do you mean? Are you having problems with the default setting of DolbyDigital/PCM? Remember, not all programming provides 5.1 surround sound.

Also, the difference between line and RF mode is "voice" priority. RF ensures that "voices" are louder than background, line flips the priority.

Reference 10-6 and 10-7 of the manual.

For lip-sync issues make sure you set the proper audio delay. Hopefully your receiver has this option.

Hi Folks,

New to the forums. I recently purchased a 6131 receiver, and had plugged in a WD 500GB drive to it and was using it as a PVR very successfully. Unfortunately, we had a power outage and since then the PVR functionality has not been working. I have disconnected the drive, connected it to a PC and wiped/deleted partitions, formatted and scanned the disk to be sure there weren't any problems. Now when I plug it back into my receiver, I get prompted to format it and restart, but when this completes, the receiver still doesn't see the drive. Each time I unplug and plug it back in, the reciever goes through the restart, but acts as though there is no drive connected when it restarts. Any suggestions? I tried a Factory Default hoping it would reset a fingerprint or anything that was tied to the first partition, but no luck.

Thanks!

Did you try doing a front-panel-reset on the receiver? (hold the power button until it turns off and reboots)

Just attempted the front-panel-reset... no dice. It rebooted, downloaded guide, etc, but still acts as if there is no drive connected. I've also had the receiver unplugged and plugged back in after a half hour or so when I was replacing an SW-21.

If the drive checks out on a PC, it's probably the 6131 at fault. Is it still under warranty?

It should still be under warranty, since I only purchased in during the boxing day sales. Thanks, I'll check in with Bell.

I've got a Simpletech drive that when plugged into the 6131 it saw it and formatted it then never recognized it after that. Plugged the same drive into my 9242 and it works great, also works on the pc.

I ended up with a Seagate FreeAgent 500GB (ST305004FDB2E1-RK) and it works well so far.

BB has a sale on the 6131 for $149. Does anyone know if it's for existing customers or new ones?

It's probably grab n' go.

At that price I think it will be for Existing Customers, New would get cheaper directly from Bell.

Yes, that is a sale price for anyone that wants to buy the receiver. I did it through futureshop when they had the 6131 on sale in the fall.

You don't have to be a customer to buy the electronics. The BB deal was open to everyone as far as I know. I'm not sure what existing or new has anything to do with pricing through retail locations like BB.

I recently bought a 6131. When I press any button on the remote after several hours of inactivity, the receiver only responds to the first key press then hangs for about 4 mins. Any key press on the remote or front buttons has no response. After the 4 min wait it seems to work fine until the next period of inactivity.
Any one heard of this? Possibly a setting somewhere? I have tried disabling the inactivity standby feature but no change.

Perhaps an issue with IR interference? See the following thread on that topic:

Try a reboot of the STB too.

Can someone tell me if the 6131 has a UHF remote? I need to store it behind the TV out of line-of-sight
