: Bell TV 6131 Discussion thread
OK, i have the 6131 in my bedroom with a sony tv. I looked up system info for remote address and it displays 1. the remote i am trying to use is from a 9242 that i no longer use as i have a Harmony in the living room. the remote itself is the #1 remote.
Now when i tried this remote in the bedroom after looking up remote address it worked on my Sony tv. so i am assuming that it is paired to the 6131 allready.
Now i have set up the extenders as written in previous post. I take the remote into games room to try and use on the samsung tv. I first found the code that works with the Samsung. Now tv on off and volume and menu all work with the Samsung but no PVR or channell changing or other Sat features work
Any ideas?
Pinza 2009-12-31, 02:33 PM What you refer to in post #516, is a way to control a 2nd TV with the 6131 Remote, using the "AUX" button. Most people only ever use the "TV" button, unless there are 2 TV's in the same room.
Now tv on off and volume and menu all work with the Samsung but no PVR or channell changing or other Sat features work
Even if you press the "SAT" button, then try to change channels on the 6131, via the extender.?
I have tried to push Sat as well and no luck
Pinza 2009-12-31, 02:54 PM But the Remote works EVERYTHING when in front of the 6131 when in SAT mode.?
And works the TV, when in TV mode.?
If this is correct, it almost sounds like the Extender is not passing the frequencies....
I am going to double check right now. BRB
Well , hold on a sec here...
I have the sony tv in bedroom with the 6131 . The remote for the games room that i am trying to send signal with is set up for the Samsung TV.
If i take that remote into the bedroom where the 6131 is i will have to first change the code back to the Sony TV..
This may be where the problem lies.
OK,
I have programmed the remote back to the Sony with 6131 , It also works on Samsung but again only just to turn off on , volume, mute... all while using Sat mode.
6131 still not receiving signal from remote in games room
Pinza 2009-12-31, 05:26 PM Does the Remote work the 6131 when you are in front of the 6131.?
yes it is working at the 6131
scrooloose 2010-01-01, 11:25 AM What sort of Wireless Extender are you using, is it the one provided by Bell, or a another one?

ARDUN 2010-01-01, 03:49 PM I just got my boxing day $99 6131 and I have two questions.
1. Can anyone recommend an external hard drive that works? (bigger the better) I gather that compatibility is hit and miss even if you pick a drive that meets Bell's specs.
2. How can I configure the timers to not want to start 1min early and end 3mins late? My 9242 did this out of the box but I managed to disable it, can't figure it out on this one.
Thanks.
scrooloose 2010-01-01, 05:36 PM For #2, just select a program in the guide to record, select Options, change the Start Early and End late settings both to zero, then select "Set as System Default".
Regarding a compatible drive, many people have posted the specific brand of drives they used successfully. Have a read through the threads. Personally I'm using a Western Digital Passport drive powered through the USB port. It's not supported by Bell, and I don't really recommend it, but it works!

Hi Scrooloose,
I bought Nexxtech wireless extenders from The Source..
I wasnt aware Bell sells them too.
These ones says that it converts any standard IR remote control to a multi room remote control
Great for use with Digital cable boxes or satellite recievers

Thanks for asking and hope this helps me
scrooloose 2010-01-01, 08:31 PM Does anything else work correctly through them. What if you take your television remote to the other end of the link. Does it allow you to change the volume, and power the TV on and off? That would verify the remote extenders are working. If that works, you might want to change the IR channel the Bell remote is using, and see if that makes any difference (i.e. hold sat button on the remote until it flashes, then press the number you want on the keypad followed by the # sign and record button - Check your manual for the full procedure - try address one first).

Ok, Scrooloose and Pinza!!
I cant believe it....
I got it working by reding the reviews on the website of the extender i bought!
A few people gave it bad reviews and then i read 1 review that was good amongst other good 1s as well..
All say the instructions are poor and i will agree with them. No where on the instructions does it say that the attennas EXTEND.
Now that i Extended them all is WELL!!!

Like everyone else who thought this product was garbage, I too was ready to trash it. Nowhere do I remember reading the antennas extend. Guess what! Now it works great. I can watch from either TV with one satellite receiver. Thanks for the input folk
So to the both of you a BIG THANKYOU!
Thanks for taking the time to deal with other's issues
Have a Happy NEW Year as well
Bye 4 now

I have 1 small issue while i have u guys here
I tried with Bell rep. but wasnt successfull and i think they gave up too soon on it anyways.
The issue is , on my 9242 i only watch same programs on the second tv anyways. But #2 remote in kitchen does everything except let me MUTE.
Any ideas, The TV is a 37" LG that is brand new
dirtroad 2010-01-02, 11:15 PM gzan, I have had a couple of TVs that had coding problems, a sharp tv that I could turn on, and volume up but not off and volume down. I had to go through about 15 codes to get the right one.
Try 653 or 766. or try code search. Or possibly your TV is too new, and there are no codes programmed into the remote by Bell -Echostar. Good luck.
I have a 3200 receiver(dual tuner) I'll be getting my 6131 next week. I would run the SD line to the 6131 first then the 3200 right? Is it a different cable line for HD? Or is that signal combined from the dish. How many lines will be coming from the dish? I currently have two lines. No HD yet.
ARDUN 2010-01-04, 12:34 PM KJT...you'll have 4 lines running from the dish to a switch (SW44) that the installer will provide when he does your upgrade. The 6131 requires only 1 feed from that switch.
