I believe that if you press the PVR button, you will see that a recording is taking place, choosing that item, you are then presented with a few options, "View", "Start Over" etc.

Choose "Start Over", you should now be at the beginning of the recording.

Assuming the 61xx is the same as the 92xx, then no.

Turning on the TV will obviously put you into a live picture viewing mode. The PVR men (at least on the 92xx) still shows the live tv picture in a window (depending on menu settings).

Turning off the sound may help you avoid hearing the score or get someone to turn it on for you........or of course just don't let it bother you. I do this all the time, it doesn't matter to me if I know the score, I'm still interested in watching how the game goes.

You could press the pause button before turning on the TV. There will still be a chance the score will be shown but it will reduce it. Pressing the PVR button as well will minimize the picture. Then, turn on the TV, select the game and 'Start Over.'

I do this all the time, before I turn on the TV I press pause then the PVR button, I'd really have to squint to cheat out a score.

I just had Bell out on Saturday and hooked up 2 new HD Receivers 6131 and the tech mentioned getting an external hard drive to use as a PVR. This is all new to me, I have no idea what to get.

Any suggestions on a good external hard drive that is easy to use and works well with the 6131?

I had heard that you cannot record something and watch something else while recording, is this true?

Also can you switch the hard drive from one receiver to the other?

Thanks.

Yes, you can plug in an external HD to it, Many seem to have had good luck with Western Digital ones, I myself used a Seagate, there is more information about that if you read the posts in this thread, and on bell's website is a little information.

Correct, there is only one tuner in the 6131, you can watch and record the same program only. While it is recording something however, you are able to watch a recorded program as well off it.

There is also information that you can share the same drive back and forth on 2 6131's. I personally would test that right off the batt if you plan to, to make sure you don't have any issues that it wants to format when you plug it into the other one.

well I picked up the Lacie 500 GB on Thursday night from FS, hooked it up and it worked immediately. I even moved it from one receiver to another and no problems! Thanks for your help.

My 6141 decided today (11/02 EST) between 11am and 1pm that it wasn't going to activate any of the timers I had set up. So far, 5 timers (which have been set and worked for weeks) have not activated when they were supposed to. I haven't changed any settings or otherwise messed with the unit (in fact nobody was home between the last executed timer and the first failed one). I tried looking at various settings without finding anything that had any effect (the next timer also failed).

The unit has worked as expected for months other than it didn't like BBCK (558) at 1am EDT on Mondays [It turned on the receiver, put up the banner and showed a completely BLACK screen, no sound and turned off on time].

I tried resetting it with the power button, timers still didn't execute timers.

Anyone else? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Arisian,

I've had this happen recently on my 9200 and the culprit was the guide was not populated during the time period the timer was to kick off. By not populated, I mean the guide displayed "No info available" for the channel. This happened for one day only. Forcing a download of the guide didn't fix it. A while back this problem was rampant on the US networks and I'm sure there were some threads here about it.

I had the same issues..however mine was caused by the new channel numbering...my old timers were on the 800 series numbers, but the new channels are now 4 digits...
Don't know if this is your problem too, but it was mine.

I hope I have this in the right forum...

I just bought a new HDTV for the living room, and moved my older HDTV to the bedroom...

I've been using a bell 9200 (rented) in the past, which was great as I ran the 2nd output up to the bedroom on my regular tube TV, and was able to access the same PVR recordings from the 2 TVs.

But now I want HD in both spots, and access the PVR from both locations as well. Clearly this isn't possible with the 9200, so I was hoping to get a few 6131s and share an external hard-drive between them.

I've heard that this is possible, but my issue is connectivity... The TVs are on different floors, and way too long of a run for USB.

So what are my solutions? I would also explore building a HTPC but don't know what the best option is. I wouldn't mind also having the option to branch out to a 3rd tv (SD, no pvr is required) but this isn't a deal-breaker. Although with Bell right now, I'm ok with going with a different provider (Rogers, Starchoice).

Thanks in advance!

You could use two 6131 and either buy an EHD for each of them, or buy one EHD and connect it to whichever receiver you want to watch your recordings on. The EHD is shared by connecting it to one receiver at a time.

Thanks for the reply Zero G.

My ultimate goal is to be able to see the same PVR listing from either TV, so that I don't have to record specific shows that i can only watch on specific TVs (I don't want to re-locate the EHD all the time).

There's got to be a way to do this...

The only way to do it with 6131s is to move the EHD back and forth between the receivers when you want to watch, or have two EHDs and set identical timers on each.

You can run two HD televisions off a single 9200 (or 9242) using both the HDMI and Component Video outputs. You would have to get either a long Component cable (with 2 audio cables) or single HDMI cable from the receiver to the second television though. Then use the RF remote to control the television furthest away, and the IR remote for the television closest to the receiver.

Keep in mind both televisions are on TV #1 and therefore have to watch the same content.

I record "Most Haunted" weekly on W Saturday midnight. This weeks episode did not tape. I think this has something to do with the time change (DST) and must of skipped the 12am time frame????????????

Just wondering if it is possible to run 2 HD Tvs off of the 6131? What would be complications?
Would remote work for both Tvs? I am thinkink of using HDMI out for main TV and component for 2nd tv. Has anyone done this and been successfull?
Thanks

I'm in the process of setting this up myself, so far it's working fine. I've got one TV using component+S/PDIF and the other using HDMI.

The only problem is that the 6131 doesn't use an RF remote so if you're two TVs are in different rooms, you'll need an IR repeater or something.
