: Bell TV 6131 Discussion thread
jgravel 2009-08-13, 06:26 PM Thanks Pinza for the info. Since I do not need all receivers at same time I will just do what I am doing now which is swapping a wire at the sw44 for the room I want to use now. All rooms in the house are wired for cable, sat and two phone lines so no big deal.
Thanks again
J.P.
JKR1963 2009-08-18, 09:30 PM A question for 6131 owners... what type of picture is output from the S-Video and Composite Video outputs when watching an anamorphic picture from an hd channel.
My 9200 does output an anamorphic picture from its composite video output, but my 6100 turns an anamorphic signal (16/9) into 4/3.
which is swapping a wire at the sw44 for the room I want to use now
You could put a coaxial switch to do the switching.
Crofton 2009-08-19, 03:20 PM Gents,
The current HD Receiver advertised on the BellTV website is a 6131.
Do I ask for a 6131 or 6141 when ordering? Which is better?
Thanks.
Pinza 2009-08-19, 07:42 PM You answered your own question..... The CURRENT Bell TV HD Receiver is the 6131.
It replaced the 6141.
ScaryBob 2009-08-19, 09:16 PM 6141s are no longer available. You will get a 6131 unless you can find a used 6141 privately. There isn't much difference between the two if you just want satellite TV.
Crofton 2009-08-20, 02:51 AM Thank you both.
TheZodiac 2009-08-24, 01:53 PM Anyone experience signal loss on the 6131? My parents unit just simply cuts out everyday ... it's very frustrating for them as they are not to tech savy to get their picture back. Should I ask BELL for a replacement?
Pinza 2009-08-24, 10:09 PM Can you explain the picture loss in more detail.?
Is it simply that the receiver turns off after a long period, of not being used.?
TheZodiac 2009-08-24, 11:45 PM As it turns out, they actually have a 6141, and yes the screen simply goes black, called BELL Tech support tonight and they basically ran some checks and said tough luck, they refuse to replace the reciever which is still under warranty. Going to call retentions tomorrow, and may have to switch to Rogers.
Pinza 2009-08-25, 06:20 AM How is it connected to the TV.?
HDMI has caused problems on most if not all Bell receivers for some time, try Component connections, if possible.
TheZodiac 2009-08-25, 09:19 AM Yes connected with HDMI, will try the component route thanks Pinza
erikt 2009-08-25, 08:37 PM Anyone found either discrete on/off IR codes for the 6131 or a macro that accomplishes the same? I just switched from a 6100 and had macros that worked for it, but they don't work for the 6131 (though all of the IR codes seem to be the same). I searched on RemoteCentral as well as this topic but didn't find anything.

JKR1963 2009-08-25, 08:43 PM I bought one of these yesterday at Future Shop, they had it on sale for $79.
Lindsay649 2009-08-26, 06:21 PM On sale at FS for $99 yesterday. Back to regular price of $199 today but did get one from a pleasent sales person for $99. Hooked it up and activated it on line........took about one hour for all the downloads etc. Works fine so far. It is replacing a 6100 which will now go on the shelf for a few weeks until anther HD Tv arrives.
rosenqui 2009-08-27, 01:07 PM It's not perfect, but for discrete on/off you can take advantage of the fact that a "Select" press will wake the receiver up from its standby screen.
I use "Select" for on and "Power" for off. If you wanted it to work regardless of the receiver state you'd have to use something like "Select, <small wait>, Power" for off and "Power, <small wait>, Select" for on.
I have a Harmony 720 remote, so on the odd occasion where things get out of sync I can just hit its "Help" button, step through its questions, and get the remote and system back in sync.
erikt 2009-08-27, 01:14 PM Thanks, that seems like a good idea. I just noticed yesterday that Select turns the receiver on and hadn't yet figured out how to make this work in all situations. I think you suggestion might just work, I'll give it a try tonight!
Cheers,

Whygee 2009-08-29, 11:42 PM I just bought a new 6131 and I have problems with the remote. Sometimes it works, but sometime I have to get very close to the receiver (like 1cm) for the remote to work. I was wondering if anyone has seen this problem before.
Obviously, the batteries are new. I bought two receivers at the same time, so I tried switching the remotes too. I think the problem might be with the receiver since the remotes works fine with the TV.
I think I'll take it back to the store, but I wanted to check here first.
Pinza 2009-08-30, 12:41 PM Are you using an LCD TV.?
If so it is a known problem, lots of info on this subject all over this forum.
Whygee 2009-08-30, 07:59 PM Yes... LCD connected with HDMI. Should I look in this thread?
Thanks.
