I am convinced that subchannels are ruining WNED HD's picture quality.
Without a doubt, but the problem is NOT local, it's from the top. That's what PBS wants!

THE PQ on WNED is terrible. Period!

Can we be so bold as to hope that as of Feb 17, 2009, PBS stations drop the EDTV copy of their NTSC signal? WNED going from 1 HDTV and 2 EDTV subchannels down to 1 HDTV and 1 EDTV subchannel should cause an improvement.

There is NO chance of that happening. WNED will still use that feed for Buffalo/Toronto region and I believe is required to have it broadcasting because that is the stations main license. The HD-PBS feed is the national feed, not the local feed...
