RE: Newer Channel Master Antenna Durability

Thanks. 4228HD's seem very popular.

The are hackable too: CM4228HD Hardware Hacks

The old CM4228 was replaced in 2007 by the new CM4228HD.

help with CM4228 broken connector

I tried to re-orientate my antenna and broke the cable connector to the circuit board. The small middle wire is too short to reach. Is it salvageable? The warranty just expired but I don't think they would have covered it anyway

Carnut2,

Simply remove the black plastic box by popping off the 2 rivets with a drill and install a regular balun with nuts and screws.

Make sure that you keep a 2 inch space between the 2 rods where the new balun will be. You can use a plastic piece of somekind for that, NOT wood.

Further to my above problem: I ordered a new CM balun and reattached it using the old plastic shell as spacer. I'm using two CM4228, one pointing to Erie 41miles away the newly modified one to Buffalo 32miles away, both across Lake Erie in different directions. I only receive signals from the old unmodified one. The CM amp and signal combiners both worked before my mishap. What's the easiest way to debug this, considering it's a real hassle to take components apart on top of the 30"tower?

Stealthtenna 50 (cm-3010hd)

I noticed that Channel Master have a new antenna, the CM-3010HD (aka Stealthtenna 50). Could be a good option for those with strong signals and want something small and discrete.

Link to my TVFool results is in my profile Homepage URL. I suggest others do the same.

The replacement for the CM7000 and CM7001 is now the CM7003

Subscription-free, antenna (ATSC) / cable (clear QAM) converter box that allows you to tune and display digital broadcasts on older analog only TVs. Includes basic on-screen program information and USB media player functionality.
