These were little cylinder shaped amps, that went up at the antenna, packaged with a DC injector & power pack, to go down at the TV end. Guess they sold out. They should have been right near those ones in your picture.

Has anyone been able to find a lower cost retailer for either the Terk or Zenith in the Vancouver, BC area other than London Drugs? Thanks!

Dell has the Philips PHDTV3 Silver Sensor (which is amplified) for $29 with free shipping via Purolator.

Hmmm, what to get, what to get?

I'm not looking at spending a ton, so here are my two options

The one dell is selling (currently on sale for $26), 10dB Adjustable Gain Amplifier, and it looks pretty

Or the Terk HDTVa for $38

As long as you can return them, try both and see which works best.

Well I guess the dell one is pretty basic to return. I guess I can purchase the Terk from LD, and test it out, and if its better, then return it, and buy it from ebay

dope, the price on the dell went up back to $29 today. Oh well. Just placed the order. We'll see how it compares.

Well the Philips (PHDTV3) came in from Dell today. I was amazed at the size of the box they shipped it in, but when I opened the package it made sense. This unit is pretty big. Not as small as I thought from the look in the picture (will post a pic of it l8r).

Now just to wait for my OTA hdtv card to come in, so I can test this out.

Put something recognizable next to it in the picture for scale - a beer can would be perfect.

lol. Been off the beer for a while. But I took two pics here:

Here's my overall desktop, with the antenna temporary placed on my amp. The monitor is a Dell 2407FPW (24" widescreen) so it shows the size of the antenna.

One more close up:

Hi,

I just Googled "Philips PHDTV3 Canada" and came across this website. I've been looking for a VHF/UHF antenna for analogue reception since I won't have cable in my dorm in September. Can anyone tell me what range I will get on this for analogue reception?

I actually ordered the Terk TV5 from international-orders.com via Amazon.com after reading good reviews about the antenna. But Comerxia (international-orders.com) seems to be a horrible company and still hasn't even placed my order because of "technical difficulties". I ordered 3 weeks ago for $50 CAD. Now that it's been so long, I'm thinking of cancelling my Comerxia order and then buying a Philips PHDTV3 from Dell.

Thanks in advance.

NCIX came thru and got me my AVerTVHD A180 today. I'll probably connect it up this weekend, and test it out with the Philips antenna from Dell.
