Thanks for the updates. I'm not sure where the info originates from, but here are some links from https://www.rabbitears.info (from Tools --> TV Query):

WUTV
repack RF36: new application - Relative Field polar plot
current RF14: license - Relative Field polar plot
- repack antenna is 28.5 meters higher but even more directional away from Canada (current rf14 puts out 23kW towards me, new application would put out 8kW)

WKBW
repack RF34: new application - Relative Field polar plot
current RF38: license (non-directional)
- new application repack antenna puts out more kW in every direction compared to current rf38

WNED
repack RF31: new application (non-directional)
current RF43: license (non-directional)

WNYO
repack RF16: new application - Relative Field polar plot
current RF49: license - Relative Field polar plot
- new application repack antenna is closer but very directional away from Canada (current rf49 puts out 193kW towards me, new application is 30 miles closer but would only put out 1.68kW)

Looking through rabbitears.info, it looks like WPXJ Batavia also applied for a power increase for their repack RF24 to 1000kW horizontal / 235kW vertical (link) - their current power on RF23 is 455kW with same/similar directional pattern. Also, WNYB applied for a power increase for their repack RF5 to 4kW non-directional (link).

Buffalo Power Increases ??

In the past any increases in power that resulted in any potential increases in interference in Canada get denied by Industry Canada.Reading thru the FCC LMS applications WNYO move will increase interference to 19k people on Canada side to Globals RF 17.Thats less 2%.Despite those same people will have RF 17 co channel with WBXZ.Will WBXZ have to vacate RF 17 ???.I doubt any power increases get approved by Canada.

Looks like applications galore!
Rochester's WHAM and WXXI also want to increase power.
Also Syracuse and Watertown stations have applications in for power increases.

WIVB tower future usage

My thought on future use of this tower is to have WNLO switch to ASTC 3.0 which would allow broadcasting on rf 32 from both Grand Island and WIVB south tower. Now they would have far better coverage then anyone else.Have 4 1080p HDR networks on RF 32 ASTC 3.0.Use WNYO as Lighthouse for ASTC 1.0.

For risk of going out of business from expenses, thus no stations on the air, good thing you are not at the helm
Obviously they cannot do that because they were paid to turn in their WIVB license...

WIVB sold RF 39.They can apply to move WNLO.ASTC 3.0 allows for over lapping transmission from different locations of same signal .Just like cellphone networks.Just an idea !!

That's correct, they sold their channel assignment, which would be lost eventually anyway, not their broadcasting license. In very crowded markets, that could amount to the same thing or, at minimum, having to accept a much less effective channel assignment. Channel sharing using ATSC 3.0 is a solution but the number of viewers with ATSC 3.0 equipment is currently very limited.

WIVB

The owners received 46 million in the sale of rf 39 so they can afford to spend some of it.I am sure some people in Southern tier are going to mad about losing their CBS signal.

I have heard of no such complaint around here..
To be honest though, none of this is really getting any hype, such as what went down
with the analog/digital switchover in 2009. So I am guessing they are planning on things going
as smooth as possible. The owners have no such obligation to do anything because some nick rob from DHC thinks something might be a good idea.

WVTT Application

WVTT has 30 days to fix 0.56% interference to WHEC Channel 10 Rochester.I think that would require a directional antenna..FCC must be kidding 0.56%.

No surprise.. That's the rule..
WVTT is only a Class A license, While WHEC is Full Service Class.
They should have plenty of cash to fix whatever the issue is, considering they got paid millions for
contributing to date, literally nothing.

" ... but the number of viewers with ATSC 3.0 equipment is currently very limited. "

By limited, I think you mean close to zero. The current FCC is very market based. It will be interesting to see how broad or niche the general public is on this. 3D was supposed to be the next great thing. Something better will come along in years to come. I for one will be sitting out for a while - I'm happy with my current gear.
