So, im interested in how things are planned overseas, what aerials you use, what percularities you have, even reception tricks that may not have work their way down here yet.
Teach me the ways of your OTA TV world, and in return I'll post the equivalent situation for FTA TV (yep, never called OTA here - learning already
) in Australia for those who are interested.
Some basics to get us started:
Switchover for all
services is end of 2013, staggered by region before that date, my area's switchover for example is 5th June 2012.
VHF and UHF are in use
Horizontal and Vertical polarisation in use
All services for an area are co-located on one tower or site.
Most areas have 5 TV stations, 3 commercial (in regional areas these are all affiliates of metro stations, with minor programming differences), 2 government.
Each station carries 2 or 3 multichannels, in addition to the main channel.
Large areas of Australia (but with relatively small population proportion) rely on our regular FTA channels carried over satellite.
Ive never seen an aerial rotor!
