Exclamation BounceTV Debuts September 26th 2011

The BounceTV debut will debut September 26th 2011.

Bounce will soon be airing on WROC 8.2 rochester and possibly WEWS 5.2 cleveland sometime after Sept 26th.

I am also speculating that Bounce will replace RTV on WGRZ at precisely12:01am on WGRZ's 2.3. Let's see if the power of suggestion really works.

WEWS is adding Live Well on 5-2 on September 5. Bounce will be on WUAB in Cleveland.

Thumbs up WEWS-LWN cleveland 'live-well-network' on 5.2

WEWS cleveland has bars too, but not the ID-info at the top says WEWS-LWN

Coming Sept 5th:

I'm kind of surprised Bounce TV isn't coming to Michigan (yet). Anyhow Detroit has This TV, Livewell, Create, and Antenna is coming in October. Dot 2 network has plans for WDIV 4.3 but no date has been announced. So far PBS World and MeTV are not in Detroit. RTV used to be WXYZ 7.2 until recently.

A reminder that this thread is really about the operational and technical side of these networks and stations. We're not discussing the programming other than in a brief, introductory fashion.

If you want to discuss the programming on them you can look for a thread in the following forum about the network in question or start one there if one doesn't already exist:

Uh oh! That can't be good.

I guess that means goodbye Universal Sports Network OTA.

Let's not make assumptions here. Their was nothing mentioned directly that they were shuttering their free OTA channel.

I spoke with someone at a station that just signed with Universal Sports a few months ago and said he received notice last week. Alternate programming has not yet been arranged for his station.

That's too bad. So you mean Universal Sports is going off of free tv. Maybe now WGRZ will decide to keep RTV on it's lineup, or pickup Antenna tv. I think it would be a great idea for any Buffalo station to pick up both RTV and Antenna Tv to compliment one another.

Yeah, but part of the reason RTV is going to be taken off WGRZ is to protect WBBZ(WNGS), or at least that's how I understand it. MeTV might be our only OTA TV-Land-like-channel for awhile. But with RTV and Universal Sports gone from WGRZ, maybe we will see Bounce come to Buffalo soon. I know Bounce signed some agreements with LIN(owners of 4 and 23). It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Honestly, the thought of losing those two subchannels doesn't really bother me, since I didn't really watch them, usually just skipped right over them.

My concern is the latest FCC tactic to reclaim broadcast spectrum: Offering financial incentives for stations to go dark. And while this new plan by the FCC doesn't appear to be applicable to sub-channel networks as yet, who's to say that it won't be in the near future. Certainly such incentives could dissuade broadcasters from making deals with minor "sub-channel" networks.

pr92: I wouldn't say it's "protecting" WBBZ, but rather capitulating to WBBZ.

Jase: I'd argue the opposite is true. That the FCC is trying to reclaim spectrum is why so many of these networks are popping up. Stations are trying to show that they are making use of their bandwidth by airing them.

WGRZ will likely not be replacing their subchannels though, as Gannett is very interested in getting Mobile DTV up and running.
