The picture quality is not that great on an HDTV but I really like that Universal Sports Network that comes in as a sub-channel of WGRZ NBC.
I'm not a sports addict and I'm sick of supporting Toronto loser teams (I have a personal ban on MLSE everthing until one of their teams win something. I'm sure they're hurting from that). But I do like to flip channels and often end up watching sports.
I was surprised how watchable the Diamond League Track and Field is. My brother who is stuck with Rogers envies all the bike racing coverage Universal Sports has. I've even ended up watching table-tennis. Not into the swimming. Any red-blooded man would enjoy the volleyball coverage. I especially like the indoor volleyball, but it's not on very often.
Anyway, with the HD NFL, NHL, NBA, MLS, NCAA everything, and MLB, all on network TV, I find there is definitely enough sports to do the trick for me - especially since I have no special love for "my" teams currently. The Jays are a feel-good story this year, but that is only because our expectations were so low.
The only thing I miss is the CFL. I used to watch all four games each week. Not enough of a pull to get me to re-up with cable, though. Games can be found on Sirius radio and on the web.
For the casual sports fan, OTA has more than enough sports.
