Talking You Know You're An OTA Addict When...

Your perfect reception is never good enough.

You terrify pedestrians because you are always looking at rooftops as you drive through the neighbourhood.

You spell ATSC, ERP, PSIP, RG6, and 8VSB in your alphabet soup.

You stay up all night scanning for tropo and then try to explain it to the boss at work as you nod off all day.

You haven't used Rogers, Shaw, Bell, or the others in months yet you still complain about them because you miss doing that.

I use 2 remotes when I'm surfing channels. With the remote in my right hand, I push the channel up button and then with my left hand remote I push the info button to check the signal strength. This way I only have to change the batteries once a week.

Someone needs to develop software that works with antenna rotators, and continuously scans for channels. When it gets a "hit", the channel is screen captured and logged.

That would help me get to bed earlier most nights...

You just HAVE to take one more manual scan to see if anything new has popped up or current channels have changed in signal strength...

And you have four HDTVs, 2 extra ATSC tuners and 3 antennas.

No kidding!
I'd also recommend condos with a clear SE exposure.

I don't have as many HDTVs with ATSC tuners but I do have 7 ATSC tuner cards

You find someone in your neighbourhood who also has a CM 4228 and you compare signal strength.

You Know You're An OTA Addict When...

.....Your brother-in-law comes over to your house for a visit and you find a "convenient" way to slide OTA into the conversation, so you can show him your gear, discuss the PQ, etc. etc....He then informs you that you have already extolled the benefits of OTA to him......and this time is the 14th time in the past 3 years

... You don't work in anything remotely close to the broadcast industry, but you regularly check-out sites like broadcastengineering just to see what's new.

....You look at the chain link fence in your backyard and wonder if it could be used as a reflector, and if the dog would notice if you "borrowed" a couple of feet of it.

.... Your hear a stranger in the checkout line at Best Buy mutter something about a fear of heights, and you rush over to join the conversation.

.....When considering a minor home renovation, you suggest to your spouse that "perhaps we should add another story/level to the home",.... just to get that pathetically low roofline 10' higher.

... You get upset when you hear people quote "10 ~15% OTA penetration", when deep inside you know it must be closer to 97~98%

... Even though you get all the stations you want to watch, the gear could use "just one more tweak".

... You hate taking your kids to school, because you are forced to look at that beautiful, free-standing, 75' mast in the schoolyard which is sporting nothing but a flag.

... You believe that ability to simultaneously receive three different PBS stations is not an obsession, but a very necessary built in redundancy.

.... You lurk around Future Shop with no intention of buying anything, but just to set all the new sets on AIR, and answer any customer questions (BlakeW, I'm looking at you....!)

BaadaBoom! I'm here all week.

cheers

This is sooo easy, I could go on for hours.
