Magicjack Purchased In The US OK In Canada?

Nettalk has specific Canadian and US models. To get a Canadian number you must buy a Canadian model. With Magicjack, you decide on whether you want a US or Canadian number during the registration and pay extra for the Canadian number.
My question is, are there county specific models like Nettalk? Can an American bought Magicjack be setup with a Canadian number during the registration? Or must it be a Canadian bought Magicjack? Does it matter?
Thanks,

No it doesn't matter where your MJ comes from. You can purchase a unit in the States and activate it in Canada just fine. I can confirm from experience. MJ is just a dongle, like a Chromecast.

Thanks John,
Good to know. Many more to choose from and better prices in the US.

Does anyone know if you can port over a current number off a land-line, to a Magicjack? I want to ditch Bell because of their overcharging ways and wondered what the best option was?

No, you cannot port Canadian numbers with MagicJack.

You might want to try OOMA, they will port Canadian numbers and they have more features than MJ. Go here ca.ooma.com
