Cogeco Tivo does not have the Autotune feature that Bell Satellite has which lets you set a daily schedule to tune to new episodes automatically at the time that they air so you can watch them. Apparently they want you to wait until you miss the episode so you can record it and watch it later.
I think Cogeco should have this feature for their Tivo receivers because I want to watch new shows as they air. I don't want to wait until someone text messages me what happened on the show before I watched it.
I have Tivo and I have no trouble setting a timer. I assume that's what you mean. You add whatever you want to record to what Tivo calls a wish list and it will record the movie or episodes as they become available.
I don't think you understood what I typed. I don't want to record anything. I want to watch the show as it airs and a timer should cause the receiver to tune to that channel automatically when its time to watch it. I don't wan to record because that would mean I miss the show when it airs. I would like to watch the show as it airs.
If that is what you want, then TiVo isn't for you. You just need a regular non-recording HD Receiver where you can set "VCR Timers" that will accomplish what you want.
No it's not what I want. I had Cogeco and the VCR timer does not tune to new episodes on a schedule every day for you. It is only able to be used once and then you have to set a new timer again and again. I'm not fast forwarding to every week manually to set a new timer. Bell Satellite lets you set a timer and it automatically sets a timer for all new episodes and even all episodes. However, Bell is very expensive and the satellite can only do 1080i not 1080p.
Bell Satellite only does 720p for HD. Cogeco carries 720p or 1080i depending on what the original feed is in. The only thing that MIGHT be in 1080p is certain VOD items and that is probably only certain channels if at all.
Rogers also used to have reminder/timers that you could set for "daily" or "weekly", but for some reason Rogers did away with that option in the latest firmware and now we need to set individual timers for each programme which we wish to be "reminded" of instead of setting a daily or weekly reminder once. Rogers also used to automatically switch to that channel, but no longer - it's only a "pop-up" reminder. Some people miss this feature but probably not that many people used it since you can simply set a recording on the PVR. If you're there you can watch it live. If you're not there you can always catch up during the recording or afterwards. Most people have Smart Phones or other devices, so it should be simple to set daily or weekly reminders there.
I like to be reminded of the 11PM news, so I set reminder/timers when the reminder comes up. The reminder comes up one minute before the programme airs, so this gives me plenty of time to set my "next" reminder(s), up to a week in advance.
