6412

I phoned for tech support and they told me they were rebuilding lines last week and suggested I wait a week to let them finish. If the problem(s) remains unresolved , they will send someone out to go over the feed .
I guess that will determine if I get a replacement .
Keep you advised

I am also having PQ issues with this unit. The analog channels look down right brutal, digital channels break up like crazy and the HD channels seem to have a lot of noise to them, they also have a lot of audio problems as well. The SD, and digital channels fluctuate in volume by as much as 30db, this is just plain brutal IMO.

Hopefully a firmware upgrade can correct this, otherwise this box isnt worth the packaging it came in.

Hey dr dave, can you please give me any info on your trade from purchased 6208 to the 6412...I've called a couple times and the first was when they first released the 6412 no one knew anything. I then called back a week or so later and it was like pulling teeth with obviously no luck.

PLEASE PLEASE any assistance is appreciated, I sold off my car audio system and swaped my BEV equip. and changed to Cogeco to get the 6208 when I was told they would not have a rental option and no new box was coming. I really want the dual tuner capabilites when available.

Thanks.

Hay, check the thread titled something like "got my 6208 swapped but what a hassle" there is a post in there from an Cogeco insider that states they are not swapping the boxes anymore until they activate the dual tuner. Yyou will probabaly have to wait till then.

Biglyle,

it sounds like you have the same audio problem Dr. Dave and I do. What receiver are you using?

6412 Cogeco

Hay ,
I went to their Burlington office , explained quietly that I had purchased the 6208 not 3 months earlier and felt that it was somewhat unfair that the 6208 product was obsoleted so soon , particularly after they had given me assurances that this would not happen for at least a year or two .
The CSR was exceptional , agreed with me ,and suggested I go back home and get the 6208 and bring it in for a straight swap .This I did ,as quickly as I dared on the roads , and returned to Cogeco ( all the while praying that the CSR was still there, she was ) jockeyed to get in her line ,I did , and she exchanged it for me .I only brought the unit , leaving all cables and remote at home .
In fact , another CSR , helped break open the box, gave me the 6412 , gave me the upgraded remote that apparently most HD subscribers had been mailed and that was it .
The service throughout was exemplary , as was the the later activation ,and now that I have been dealing with Tech over the PQ issue , I remain really impressed with their customer satisfaction focus .
I tend to be cynical ( really ?), thought rather poorly of Cogeco , from the slowness in introducing new technology ,to getting good service ( I remember hours on hold with the WAVE problems ), but something has changed for the better at this company and I am truly one satisfied customer .

maybe you should call in for a service call. things like that dont just go away. And the audio problem you are experiencing with your yamaha reciever i believe is Digital Normalization.

Actually the problem has nothing to do with the reciever itself. It is the result of poor signal from the cable company. I have no drop outs at all with DVD source, and no drop outs as long as my cable signal remains over 33db.

The problem is the crappy lines in our town. The dont carry nearly enough bandwith do the job properly.

Question 6412 Availability

Hi, this is my first post as I just found this forum. Great discussions! I was wondering if anyone knows when the availability of the 6412 will be in the Windsor area? I am just about to switch to the Digital Service and would like to know if the 6412 is an option for me. Thanks.

You can already get the 6412 in Windsor. Cogeco is also in the process of upgrading all their line in Windsor, a process they say will take 1 year, though contractors involved say it will take 3 years to complete.
Regardless, at least you will have great signal when it is all done.

Well the pic quality and audio dropouts are mostlikely caused by the signal quality but the volume fluctuation on channels btw 1-100 is a receiver, stb compatibility issue most likely caused by a problem with the Dolby digital dialnorm metadata.
