Nextbox w/HD extender - old recordings problem

I have a nextbox and a PVR extender. Within the past 2-3 weeks, my PVR is almost maxed out as far as space is concerned, where it used to be 50-60% full. I can't seem to access (delete, watch, etc) several old recorded programs, but i see them on the recorded list. I haven't recorded things recently that would account for 40-50% of new hard drive space being required.

I can access things that were recorded within the past 4 months.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Which NextBox do you have - the 8642 (NB2) or the 9865 (NB3)? I'm guessing it's the 8642. Do you ever use AnyPlace web edition or app for phone or tablet? Have you tried accessing and deleting the recordings from there?

Check to see if any of your recent recordings are extremely long. There have been reports of "runaway" recordings where a programme recorded for many hours instead of say 1 hour.

You say you can "see" the old recordings - what happens when you try to watch or delete them? Specifics please. If you select them and nothing happens, perhaps they're located on the eHDD (perhaps with other recordings that you cannot access) and there is something wrong with your eHDD - like a poor connection or a failed eHDD.

Does the PVR say something like: "This PVR has an eHDD" when you start it up? If it doesn't, perhaps there is an issue with the eHDD and the PVR doesn't see it (I'm not sure if it says that any more with Navigatr). If there are quite a few recordings that you cannot watch, that would explain the "jump" in used HDD space you mention - since you can't access the eHDD and all new recordings are going to the iHDD.
