Inconsistent Program Titles?

Has the inconsistent program titles issue ever been resolved for the 8300HD? Is it possible to record a program on a weekly basis by setting once or do I need to record manually every week?

So if I the program title changes even very slightly, will next week's recording be made?

The last time this was discussed was in 2009.

No it has not changed.

That is how the box works, it does a series, based on the NAME.

Its more then of a PROGRAMMING issue of the guide, than the box itself.

Rogers 9865, LG 47LV5400 LED TV, Onkyo HT-R690.

Per that old thread - see post 1 - My note August 25, 2009, the issue has been mostly resolved. There are only few occasions now that the programme titles will change, so it can still happen, but not as much as in early 2009.

The time to check is when a new season starts because any change in the title name will mean that the programme will not be recorded. I haven't used my 8300HDs much in the past year because I have a 9865 to do most of the work, but I rarely did single recordings for most of my series when I was using my 8300HDs. Since the 9865 also uses "name based recording", the issue would be the same on the 9865 and I now set up my weekly or daily recordings as series, instead of doing them as single recordings. I don't recall an issue in over a year.

There is also the issue of the "new" tag, which you may or may not wish to use as a "Filter". There's also the issue of start times... See link below and the link in that post.
