I can confirm that it is a Cisco 9865 DVR. Pretty typical looking STB. It's significantly smaller than the 8642 and I think it may even be smaller than the 4642.

It looks like the model that Rogers is using is custom configured as it will have 8 tuners while the spec sheet on the Cisco website states it will only have 6.

No definitive info on the software yet. However, it doesn't surprise me that Rogers may have chosen to use the same software with a few enhancements. To me this just looks like a marketing ploy so they can hit back at bell with some Cable Can Fibe Can't commercials.

Since they will be adding the skip ahead by 3 minutes function, will there be a new remote now?

No clue, but didn't we have a similar feature like that in SARA that just utilized the page up and down button?

Thumbs down Box specs

So the specs are:
Unified RAM

1 GB DDR3

OPTIONAL: 2 GB, 3 GB

NAND Flash

256 MB

OPTIONAL: 512 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB

Any guess as to how much memory Rogers will order?

The more ram they order, the more they'll charge for the box

I'd like to see as much Ram as possible....seems to me some of the Nextbox performance issues could be solved with some more processing capacity

Can anyone confirm the hard drive that is shipping with the device. Any chance its an SSD? I see the Cisco site says the stock drive is 1TB.

Rogers will be advertising "twice" the recording capacity vs. Bell Fibe so you can try and guestimate.

I highly doubt it will be an SSD. The amount of read and writes that a PVR does would probably destroy one pretty quickly.

^ are you doing the beta testing? If so, do you know when the stbs are set to arrive? And what did the next email say that those who signed up were supposed to get by the 23rd of July?

I am not part of the beta testing. It's supposed to be available to non beta testers before the end of the 3rd quarter.

Where did you get this info? I've been looking everywhere and this is the only forum I can find about it.

For the people who are part of the beta testing, when are you expected to receive your units?

Beta testing has been ongoing for several weeks now, so they should all have their units by now.

I dont know where you are getting your information from, but notices were sent out like a week and a half ago ... and on the 26th, radar2000 posted this, "Beta testing receivers have now been shipped out. UPS is apparently going crazy today with massive deliveries of these receivers." so they were probably getting them this week...
