Issues I've noted (in addition to the issue chammer101 mentioned where the Folders that display multiple episodes of a program occasionally seem to contain non-related programs, and sometimes even other folders). Of course I still have the issues mentioned in the new IPG thread, but these seem specific to Whole Home PVR.
- Saturday evening (2012/06/09) I had "Concert for the Queen: A diamond Jubilee" set to record on Ch. 522-HDABC from 8:00-10:00p on BOTH my 8642's. I looked around 10:30p at "My Recordings" and saw a recording for TOMORROW at 12:00 (Sun 6/10) with that name on my LIVING ROOM 8642, along with the same show showing as 8:00-10:00p. The show that was correctly showing as 8:00-10:00p was the one actually recorded on the LIVING ROOM 8642, and would play back correctly. When I tried to play the one that was showing as 12:00-12:01a (recorded on the BASEMENT 8642) the screen stayed on the my Recordings screen but appeared "greyed out". Audio continued to play in the background but the PVR would no longer respond to any inputs from the remote, but after 5 minutes the video went back to just showing the tuned channel (program guide disappeared from screen) and remote started working again (similar thing happened when trying to play an 8642 recorded program back on my 4642 on 2012/06/04 and I powered it off/on to get the box to respond to remote control commands again). The recording in the My Recordings list showed in details at bottom of screen as:
"Concert for the Queen: A Diamond Jubilee C"
Sun 6/10 12:00-12:01a
(It did NOT display the Channel number/name like all other recordings).
Trust Rogers to miss another opportunity If they've programmed in the capability to record programs from the future, how about recording something useful, like a news broadcast with future winning lottery numbers?
Anyway, I went to the bedroom and checked on the BEDROOM 4642. In My Recordings it showed the two recordings of "Concert for the Queen: A diamond Jubilee" both as 8:00-10:00p. The one from the LIVING ROOM 8642 played back correctly. When trying to play back the one from the BASEMENT 8642 I got the same frozen "greyed out" display that I got when trying to play the show on the LIVING ROOM 8642 (that was recorded on the BASEMENT 8642).
When I went down to the BASEMENT 8642 it also showed both recordings of this show as 8:00-10:00p AND it would play back BOTH copies successfully (the one recorded on that 8642, and the one on the LIVING ROOM 8642).
I rebooted the BEDROOM 4642 and the LIVING ROOM 8642.
After the reboot the LIVING ROOM 8642 correctly showed both recordings as 8:00-10:00 (no more 12:00-12:01a with the wrong date), and it would play back the recording from both 8642's.
After the reboot the BEDROOM 4642 would also play back the show recorded on both 8642's.
So it seems each 4642/8642 might maintain it's own view of what is recorded on the other boxes in the Whole Home network, but that they can get corrupted sometimes and they appear to rebuild this view when they are rebooted.
- another problem with Whole Home PVR recordings. I recorded "Formula One Post-race" on Ch.54-SPDHD 2012/06/11 01:30-02:00a
on my BASEMENT 8642.
It shows correctly and plays OK on the BASEMENT 8642 and the BEDROOM 4642.
On my LIVING ROOM 8642 the listing appears as:
"Formula One Post-Race"
Mon 6/11 05:00-05:01a
So when this recording from the BASEMENT 8642 is viewed on the LIVING ROOM 8642 the recorded time is incorrect, the program length is incorrect, the Channel number/name is missing, and it just shows "(Other)" instead of the program description (all of which show correctly on the BASEMENT 8642 and BEDROOM 4642).
Trying to Play (or Delete) the recording on the LIVING ROOM 8642 causes the same "greyed out" appearance on the program guide and the remote becomes unresponsive (for about 5 minutes until it seems to clear itself, or until you power off/on the 8642).
Again it was necessary to reboot the LIVING ROOM 8642 to correct the listing of recorded programs on the BASEMENT 8642 and be able to Play the "Formula One Post-Race" using the Whole Home PVR function.
