Sorry if this has been posted before but a question
Will the 9200 output from hdmi and component in hd simultaneously to two sets.I know the same channel must be viewed but I want to replace a 6000 of which I actually split the component signal with gold splitters as the 6000 has no hdmi and tv 2 has no hdmi so I'll use the component
TIA
Yes it does do simutaneous output. I have the hdmi connected to a Marantz switch which goes to a Denon receiver and to my Sony XBR. The component output connects to my Slingbox Pro-HD box.
Sorry to dig up such an ancient thread, but does the 9242 have the ability to simultaneously output digital audio through both the hdmi ports and optical ports? I intend to run my first tv with hdmi for audio and video, then my second tv downstairs with component for video and optical audio if this is possible.
Would someone who owns this receiver be willing to confirm this please? I just had a chat session with Bell and they are saying that when an HDMI cable is connected, the optical out is disabled. This conflicts with jdevlin's reply. Thanks in advance.
A chat representative will be with you in about 0 minute(s). Thank you for waiting.

Jeoffrey: Hi, welcome to Bell Chat Support. How may I help you today?
You: Hello, I have a question about the 9242 receiver which I cannot find an answer to in the online PDF manual. I would like to know if the unit is capable of outputting audio from both the hdmi port as well as the optical port simultaneously.
Jeoffrey: I apologize about that, the receiver will prioritize HDMI if you are using it.
You: can you clarify that please?
You: does that mean it is one or the other?
Jeoffrey: Yes, that is right. If there is an HDMI cable connected it will prioritize the HDMI if there is none and you use component cable it will use the optical port or the red and white RCA.
You: So you are saying if an HDMI cable is connected, the optical port is disabled and will not output audio?
I have this same satellite receiver, however I do not have any stereo receiver device which utilizes the fibre optical tos-link connector so I am unable to test it out for you but If I did I would want to help you out.
I can confirm that the optical out is NOT disabled when using the HDMI port. I use component and toslink to an AV receiver at one location and HDMI to another location and have no audio issues.
I can confirm: I had HDMI, toslink optical out, component, and red/white stereo all going simultaneously on this receiver. Both TVs watching (the same thing) simultaneously.
Caveat: that was a couple of years ago. I now use all of the above except the toslink optical out so it's possible they disabled in a recent software upgrade but I'd bet against that.
Kent, yes it keeps both outputs on. Kind of surprising for many people. I think Bell tried to kill this feature off with one of their firmware but they ended up keeping it like this. Please know that when HDMI is attached, the line receiver IC is the circuitry is actually prioritizing HDMI port despite the component port being left switched on which keeps it enabled as well. As far as the controller is concerned, only HDMI is working.
