It's that time of year, so here's your chance to cast your vote for Best Picture and any other category you care to handicap. These are your picks, not necessarily which pic you think the Academy will select.
I managed to see all eight of the nominated films. My three favourites were Mad Max, Bridge of Spies and Brooklyn.
Mad Max was an exhilarating, balls-to-the-wall romp that had me spinning on my heels as I exited the theatre.
Bridge of Spies was a smart, restrained film that had a lot of power in its quieter moments. One of Spielberg's top efforts.
Brooklyn was a delight, beautifully filmed and a shimmering performance by Saoirse Ronan.

I've got to go with Mad Max for its sheer audacity and for the rare achievement of topping the original and infusing new energy into an old franchise.

Of the 2015 movies I've seen, the ones I rated the highest are:
- "Mad Max: Fury Road"
- "Ex Machina"
- "Boulevard"
- "99 Homes"
- "The Revenant"
- "Star Wars - Episode VII: The Force Awakens"

Of those, I think I'd give nods to:
- "Ex Machina" for Best Picture
- "The Revenant" for Best Cinematography
- "The Force Awakens" for Best Special Effects
- Robin Williams for Best Actor
