Optical and digital coax are usually the best for straight audio. (They are identical and just use different cables.) There are circumstances when analog audio could result in better sound but that is unusual. For example, if a BD/CD/DVD player has significantly better DACs that the A/V receiver, then analog connections would provide better sound. Analog connections might also be required for SACD and DVD Audio discs. Otherwise, it's better to go with the digital connection.
