Chromecast for Blu-ray player?

I have a sony BR dvd player. My hdmi cable (in-wall) is damaged at the plug, and I cannot pull another one. The Sony BR player is a smart player, has many apps including netflixc, etc. Can Chromecast access my Sony BR player?

Because of HDCP non-compliance (among other things), I'd say no.

Thanks for your response. The BR DVD player is HDCP compliant. So, where does it breakdown when it is on wireless? (not meant to argue, but just shows my low knowledge level on HDCP).

Basic questions:

Does it have Wifi?
Does it have some sort of casting app?

If it doesn't have either one, I don't see how it can work.

Thanks, Phils. I was not specific enough. It is Sony S5100 BD palyer. It does have wifi. It has many apps, but I do not know if it has casting app. I just read the review from cnet. It says it is DLNA compliant. Do not know what DLNA is.
Here is the link for cnet.

BTW, it was on a special package when I bought my Sony TV, so did not cost me much.

what you want to do is have your BD player video signal (output) to your TV (input), but the cable is no more good. You may try wireless HDMI extender.

good luck

Thanks flavict for your suggestion. It is too expensive for my case. I am waiting for a hdmi repair kit from China, and see if I can repair it (soldering involved, but a few dollar solution if I can solder all the 19 pins). Failing that, I'll just use an external cable, where I can hide most of it behind the tv legs.
