Hauppauge 1600 & 2250

I saw that the 1600 is a pci card (C$110)with 2 tuners too, compare this to 2250 (U$140) what is the major difference, if I want to use this for OTA only can I see one program and record the other the same time.
the 1600 also has the remote, is the WinTV2000 application can run on win XP pro, since I do not have win xp media version? can this card use on mythTV
thanks.

Looks like the 1600 is dual tuner (1 analog/1 digital) PCI. the 1250 is single tuner PCIe

I played with 3 HVR-1600 and they were the worst ATSC tuners I had. I still have one of them as a 2nd tuner in one system.

HVR-1600 looks real good on paper with 3 RF ports for ANT, CABLE and RADIO. The ATSC tuner is just horrible and that's all I need it for.

what problem with this 1600, is that unstable or very difficult to use?
I want to make use of my older pc this asus mb only has a agp slot and the rest are pci, it do not have pci-e, therefore I want to start with this hardware to experiment with this tuner card, what do you suggest? any other option, I want to keep the cost down in the beginning.
if something like this work, all I need to spend is the tuner card and a vga to dvi cable to connect to the tv.
antenna is fine and I get 9 HD channels already. (I am using a small TV with atsc tuner to test all this).
thanks.

In my limited experience at a couple of locations I tested, it has a lethal combination of poor local reception (?overloading) and poor distant reception (insensitive tuner).

Just not good unless your signals are perfect...9 HD channels (presumed ur in GTA) is far from perfect.

As you said 9 is far from perfect, what do you think I should change in this setup, I saw the HP USB tuner on sale for $50, it is oem of 950Q, what do you think about this product, compare this to 1600 & 1250 inside the machine.

I am in Richmond Hill area, bayview & 16th, I put the antenna RCA ANT751, get it from Costco $39.9 and put it outside about 20' high, not on the roof, since this height I can change it a lot easier.
When I scan I have 7 digital HD and 11 analog, I am working on using the drawing from this site to build one, but I would do this after the DVR is done first, one thing at a time. I don't mind to do experiment, and I find this process is fun any way.
thanks again for all your support.

For your use, option 1 is to get USB like 950Q + MCE remote. I have a couple of 950Q but they are OEM from Tivo so I don't know how useful the remote from the retail 950Q is. Option 2 is to get PCI card (eg ATI 650) + MCE remote.

Don't get HVR-1600 unless you feel really lucky.

Pssst...there is hope as you antenna is not the best so to speak...plus you get room to play around with a higher outdoor setup which will likely vastly improve reception.

Long time visitor, first time posting.
Just in response to comment about HVR 1600. I use HVR 1600 in both of my pcĺs with WIN7 Media Centre in Mississauga Port Credit area with great OTA results. 21 digital channels with solid reception and Rochester stations on a good day, using CM4221HD. Antenna pointed towards Buffalo and mounted above roof line of the 2nd storey home. Hamilton and Toronto stations are no problem.
