Smile Will this HD Audio Rush 5.1 Gear Sound Decoder work on my PC and PS3 ?

I'm interested in using this item with my logitech x-530 pc speakers which output to the three 3.5mm channels on this box HD Audio Rush 5.1 Gear Sound Decoder for DM500s DM800 xbox360 to get true 5.1 audio via optical on my PS3. I'm not 100% sure if this would work tho as i'm using self powered PC speakers? Could anyone confirm if this would give me true 5.1 surround sound? Many thanks in advance .
