Smile Remember Those Moldy Oldy Kids Shows?

I grew up all across Canada so I know a few of the national and regional kids TV shows from the 1950s-60s and on... this will keep people Googling for awhile:

CBC nationally:
  • The Friendly Giant
  • Howard The Turtle
  • Razzle Dazzle
  • Chez Helene
CKCO Kitchener:
  • Big Al
CFCN Calgary/Lethbridge:
  • Buckshot
CFTO Toronto:
  • Uncle Bobby
CHCH Hamilton:
  • Hilarious House of Frightenstein (now in syndication)
WKBW Buffalo:
  • Commander Tom
  • Rocket Ship 7
U.S. nationally:
  • Captain Kangaroo
  • Howdy Doody
  • The Mousketeers
  • Kookla, Fran, and Ollie
  • Gumby and Pokey
  • Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop
Care to add any others, or some memories of the above?

I can remember very few of the shows you've listed, and really can't relate to any of them. I was a teenager when we first got tv (1954) - we watched wrestling, Ed Sullivan, etc.!!

But I do remember 'Sharon, Lois & Bram' on CBC, in the 80's, when going through one of several "second childhoods"!!

Johnny Ginger's "Curtain Time Theater" (L&H, The Three Stooges)

Sir Graves Ghastly (cheesy monster flicks)

How many people remember "Johnny Jupiter"? I saw it in reruns (early 60's ?). It was the second version of the series as explained at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Jupiter

Eljay, for me Rocket Robin Hood and What Will They Stink Up Next belong with Hammie Hamster in the category of shows that were on first thing in the morning when I was coming down from wicked parties during my bad old days...

A bit off topic but 20 Minute Workout was on back then as the sun came up in the morning...

Dumbest thing I'd ever heard on Rocket Robin Hood: "Lookout Robin, you're on the edge of infinity! Anything could happen!" Even The Mighty Hercules had better animation than that show.

BradF, do you remember an early 1960s black & white cartoon show out of Detroit that had a space travel motif? What set it apart was that the characters seldom if ever moved during scenes but their mouths did - it was really creepy.

I liked a lot of the TVO (TV Ontario) programming:

Once Upon A Time...Man
Fables of the Green Forest
Barbapapa
Write On
Cucumber

There's a great page dedicated to the programs aired in the '70s on TVO
http://www.rickstv.com/tvo/

On the silly side, I really liked Roger Ramjet and George of the Jungle.

I assume as a given that EVERYONE grew up on Looney Tunes and therefore did not add it the mix.
