2018 Royal Wedding

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding will be covered by, at least, 18 television channels in the GTA. About half will be American, and a couple en franšais.

Some of us have better ways to waste our time.

Why all this nonsense about this wedding? I doubt they're the only ones getting married that day. Why do we still even have a monarchy, for that matter?

I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...

@Paolo

It will be available on OTA, probably on more than one station. CBC and CBS streaming channels will cover it as well.
So for this particular event cord cutters will have few options.

It will be on more than 20 channels. I forgot about the U.S. "superstations."
CBCs, CTVs, Globals, the Big 3 in the U.S, CNNs, the Entertainment channels, PBS, CPAC, BBC World, RDI, TV5.

An article in today's paper.

I guess you're not taking Victoria Day off either

While I agree, there's probably a few thousand people getting married same day, it's just part of the history, same reason Toronto cops have red stripes on their pants, the Ontario flag looks the way it does, etc.

For those who miss it live, I'm sure their will be highlights on the news throughout the day....and the rest of our lives!

What is the over/under for how many years they will be married with the British bookies?

I do find it odd that Harry isn't the same level as William but is getting a lot of hype.

Nobody really remembers Prince Andrew or Princess Anne or Prince Edwards weddings...they are forgettable (except Andrew and Fergie's divorce).

It's not so much William that is getting the attention as it is Meghan Markle. She is well known in the US and Canada due to here role in Suits and taking up residence in Toronto where the series is filmed. Then there is the resemblance to the Cinderella fairly tale, a common theme in western culture.

The interest surrounding this wedding reminds me of the marriage between what-his-name(1) and Dianna Spencer who became the Princess of Wales. Markle's North American connections makes this one even more popular here.

In a related story, 'A total fairytale'...

(1) Prince Charles

The hype because it's the last UK royal wedding that millions will see. The wait to see George married will be about 30 years.
