This thread will discuss the schedule updates for the Global TV broadcast network from Corus for the 2017-18 broadcast year.

I post schedule updates, series premieres and specials based on press releases as well as series renewals and cancellations as they are announced. I don't usually post on-going episode information, repeats, program descriptions or "PR-speak," so if you want more info, you can click on the associated link.

As a reminder, the following shows from the 2016-17 season have been cancelled by the U.S. network:

The Blacklist: Redemption (NBC)
BrainDead (CBS)
Chicago Justice (NBC)
Emerald City (NBC)
The Great Indoors (CBS)
Pitch (FOX)
Pure Genius (CBS)

Note Ransom has been dropped by CBS, but since it is a Canada/France co-production shot in Toronto, Global may continue the series as part of its Canadian content quota.

Arisa Cox, Host of Big Brother Canada tweeted:
It's been FIVE BRILLIANT SEASONS and now it's official, @BigBrotherCA is on hiatus. MASSIVE LOVE to our BB fam from the bottom of my heart...We CAN and we WILL get through this together! The second we know more I'll share it, so stay tuned. LOVE!
That means it won't be back next spring (maybe never.)

Canadian broadcast and production partner Corus Entertainment, with Entertainment One (eOne) and Cameron Pictures Inc., are pleased to announce that production has begun on the second cycle of Global’s critically-acclaimed drama Mary Kills People. Following a hugely successful first season with praise from critics both in Canada and south of the border, the six-part, one-hour event series will film in and around Toronto into the fall, with the premiere set for winter 2018 on Global. Lifetime has already announced that they will show season 2 in the U.S.

"Saturday Night Live" Rolls Out Season 43 with Star-Studded 3-Week Lineup on Sept. 30, Oct. 7 & 14
This season "Saturday Night Live" will air live simultaneously around the country on NBC, and Global has updated their schedule to simsub NBC.

GLOBAL GREENLIGHTS ORIGINAL SERIES PRIVATE EYES FOR A THIRD SEASON - Corus Entertainment

Global has renewed Private Eyes for a third season of 12 episodes, with production set to begin in Toronto in spring 2018.

I double-checked the press release and there was no mention of season 2 - they renewed season 2 for 18 episodes, but only aired 9 over the summer.

GLOBAL GREENLIGHTS HIGH STAKES DRAMA RANSOM FOR A SECOND SEASON

Global announced today that original suspense drama Ransom has been green lit for Season 2 with a 13-episode order. Ransom will shoot in Hungary in the coming months and premiere next year on Global in Canada and CBS in the U.S. Additional details to be revealed at a later date. Ransom is a Canada-Hungary treaty co-production and will be produced by eOne which controls worldwide rights to the series.

My assumption is Big Brother Canada will be delayed until after Celebrity Big Brother (U.S. from CBS) airs on Global. CBBUS is to be on in February for only a few weeks and will be condensed like CBBUK.

For 2018, the BB schedule for English-language editions looks like:

CBBUS - February? (3-4 weeks)
BBCA - March-May
BBUS - June-September

Updates from https://www.globaltv.com/schedule/

Global will simsub the CBS schedule for Friday, Oct. 27
8 PM ET Michael Jackson’s Halloween (special)
9 PM ET MacGyver (special time)

MacGyver and Hawaii Five-0 will return to their regular times on Nov. 3.

Thursday, Nov. 2
Ontario, Maritimes and B.C.
7 PM Chicago Fire (special time, pre-NBC)
10 PM S.W.A.T. (series premiere, regular time, s-CBS)

Manitoba and Saskatchewan
9 PM S.W.A.T.
11 PM Chicago Fire

Alberta
7 PM Chicago Fire
8 PM S.W.A.T.

NBC takes over Thursday Night Football from Nov. 9 to Dec. 14. Since Global simsubs NBC's entire Thursday primetime schedule, there won't be conflict at 10 PM ET to simsub S.W.A.T. on CBS. I'm not sure what Global is going to do for the other 2 hours. I think they might show an hour of The Wall and reruns of Taken.

RE: Ransom.

Just getting back from three weeks cruising the Aegean and being out of touch with the "real" world so this comment may be a bit late. Ransom deserved a second season. Glad that it is getting it.

And also happy about a third season for Private Eyes. With the end of Bones, Castle, The Mentalist etc., PE remains one of the only "light" drama procedurals still on TV.

Updates from https://www.globaltv.com/schedule/

Global will carry NBC's animated half-hour The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special Saturday, Oct. 28 around 11:30 p.m. local time. The special stars Tom Hanks as his SNL-originated character and will be followed by a one-hour SNL program of Halloween-themed clips. PVR guides carry these as 2 separate shows, so you should check your recording schedule. Local times vary.

CBS will premiere Superior Donuts in a new time slot on Monday, Oct. 30 at 9 PM. Global will adjust their schedule as follows (note: a lot of cable companies use TV Guide data for their on-screen guide and it has not been updated.)
9:00 PM Superior Donuts (Season Premiere, s-CBS)
9:30 PM Superstore (repeats of previous episodes)

When NBC starts airing Thursday Night Football on Nov. 9, Global will show a movie from 8-10 PM (How The Grinch Stole Christmas) in place of the NBC series.

#15 ·
It looks like Global plans to continue showing Christmas movies on Thursdays, with Elf on Nov. 16.

Upcoming events:
NBC will air Chicago Med at 10 p.m. starting Tuesday Nov. 21 after Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders wraps up. We'll see if Global follows the same schedule and leaves CBS' NCIS: New Orleans in pre-release.

NBC will air special holiday episodes of Will & Grace and Superstore on Tuesday, Dec. 5 in the 9-10 p.m. slot, which Global will probably delay a day or 2.

Updates from https://www.globaltv.com/schedule/

Global will air Chicago Med on Mondays as advertised. (Thanks @whitbyterry) It fills the 9 PM ET slot starting Nov. 20, pushing Superior Donuts and 9JKL to Thursday, Nov. 23 at 8:00 and 8:30 PM, respectively. Reruns of Will & Grace and Superstore follow at 9:00 PM. Don't forget NBC has special holiday episodes of Will & Grace and Superstore on Tuesday, Dec. 5, which Global will probably air on Dec. 7.

EDIT: The Brave finale airs on Nov. 20, so Global will air a rerun of NCIS: New Orleans on Nov. 27. There won't be any new CBS episodes on Friday, Nov. 24, so Global will air Polar Express. Holiday themes will also fill the Saturday night movie slot starting Nov. 25.

NBC has started airing Great News now that Thursday Night Football is over for the season. They aired 2 episodes on Dec. 21 (one had a Christmas theme,) which Global scheduled for January 1 at 10 and 10:30 PM ET. Global will simsub the rest of the 13-episode season starting Jan. 4 at 9:30 PM ET. It appears the Dec. 28 episode will air on NBC, but not on Global.

#26 ·
Global hasn't said too much about their programming after the Olympics starts, so expect any shelved programs to show up in that time period. Those include CBS' Superior Donuts/9JKL (Jan.15-Feb.5), NBC's Taken season 2 (Jan. 12-Feb.2), all of which Global lists as returning Winter 2018.

Global will simsub The Wall on Jan. 1 and 8 at 8 PM ET until Kevin Can Wait/Man With A Plan takes over that time slot. NBC will continue to air the program until Feb. 5, so Global will probably save those episodes for Olympic filler.

Note that Chicago Fire will move to Fridays in the new year, one day after NBC.

-------------

Thanks to all for your kind words and the many "Likes" in the past year. Merry Christmas and happy viewing in 2018.
