EDIT: Even though the Netflix coproduction Anne isn't on the CBC schedule, it isn't cancelled - Netflix is waiting to see what the viewership is on their service before deciding on season 2.

CBC announced a new 11-part original talk show launching as a companion to a special Saturday night line-up of celebrated Canadian films. THE FILMMAKERS launched Saturday, July 22 at 8:30 p.m. (10 NT).

THE GREAT CANADIAN BAKING SHOW will premiere Wednesday, November 1 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC.

PRODUCTION UNDERWAY IN WINNIPEG ON NEW CBC ORIGINAL SERIES BURDEN OF TRUTH STARRING KRISTIN KREUK
BURDEN OF TRUTH (10x60, updated final title) started principal photography on July 2 and will shoot in and around Winnipeg until October for a winter 2018 premiere on CBC.

CBC NEWS ANNOUNCES NEW SUNDAY MORNING TALK SHOW TO BE HOSTED BY WENDY MESLEY
Launching in early 2018, the interactive program will focus on the intersection of media, technology and politics and be broadcast live on CBC and CBC News Network every Sunday morning, with further details to be confirmed at a later date.

CBC AND CALGARY STAMPEDE ANNOUNCE TWO-YEAR MEDIA RIGHTS AGREEMENT EXTENSION
The current media rights agreement between CBC Sports and the Calgary Stampede has been extended through 2019. The 2018 Calgary Stampede will run from July 6–15.

CBC and SundanceTV Greenlight Tainted Blood Miniseries "Unspeakable"
CBC and SundanceTV have greenlit a new eight-part drama miniseries "Unspeakable," focused on the tainted blood scandal in Canada in the early 1980s. The project will be filmed in Canada in early 2018 for broadcast on CBC in Canada and SundanceTV in the U.S.

CBC AND NETFLIX RENEW NORTHWOOD ENTERTAINMENT?S ACCLAIMED SERIES ANNE (WITH AN E) FOR A SECOND SEASON

CBC and Netflix today announced they have renewed acclaimed series ANNE (WITH AN E) for a second season. Season 2 of the series (known as ANNE in Canada, and ANNE WITH AN E on Netflix) begins shooting this fall and returns in 2018 with 10 episodes.


CBC NEWS ANNOUNCES NEW TEAM TO HOST THE NATIONAL

CBC News today announced new hosting details for flagship news program The National. Starting this fall, the new National will be hosted by a team of four award-winning journalists on a nightly basis: senior correspondent Adrienne Arsenault, based in Toronto; political reporter and host Rosemary Barton, based in Ottawa; CBC Vancouver host Andrew Chang, based in Vancouver; and veteran host and reporter Ian Hanomansing; who will be based in Toronto. Offering Canadians a new kind of evening news, the four working journalists will host as an integrated team and also report their own stories to offer more in-depth original journalism and live coverage from more locations across Canada. The new National will launch Monday, November 6 at 9 p.m. ET on CBC NEWS NETWORK and 10 p.m. (10:30 NT) in all time zones on CBC.

Hopefully the network will put a "viewer discretion" warning on Anne for season 2. This is not an Anne for young children. There's nothing wrong with that but a warning is needed as it is on most other TV series offering possibly inappropriate content.

New additions to CBC’s primetime schedule this winter include BURDEN OF TRUTH (10x60), THE DETECTIVES (8x60), CAUGHT (5x60), LITTLE DOG (7x30) and Irish miniseries THE SECRET (4x60). CRAWFORD (12x30) will begin streaming on Fri. Feb. 2, for binge-viewing on the CBC TV app and cbc.ca/watch. The series will also broadcast on CBC in summer 2018.

Returning series SCHITT’S CREEK (Season 4, 13x30), WORKIN’ MOMS (Season 2, 13x30) and HELLO GOODBYE (Season 3, 9x30).

From Feb. 9 to 25, CBC will showcase the OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES PYEONGCHANG 2018 . In the lead up to the Games, CBC SPORTS will connect Canadians with high-performance athletes from Canada and around the world as ROAD TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES continues each weekend.

Rogers Media and CBC Sign New 7-Year Sub-Licensing Agreement for Hockey Night in Canada Broadcasts and Stanley Cup Playoffs - CBC Media Centre

Rogers Media and CBC have signed a new seven-year sub-licensing agreement for English-language broadcasts of Hockey Night in Canada and the Stanley Cup playoffs, which runs through the end of the 2025-26 season when Rogers’s 12-year national broadcast rights deal with the NHL is due to expire.

NEW CBC KIDS SERIES PABLO CELEBRATES CREATIVITY AND INDIVIDUALITY

CBC Kids today announced the exclusive Canadian premiere of the new animated series PABLO (52 x 11), airing Monday through Friday, beginning Monday, March 26, with back-to-back episodes at 9:30 a.m. (9:30 NT) and 9:45 a.m. (10:00 NT) on CBC, cbckids.ca, the CBC TV app, and at watch.cbc.ca/kids. Then, beginning April 2, the series will air Monday through Friday only at 9:30 a.m. (10:00 NT).
