Is Dexter going for one more season or two? I remember reading somewhere that HBO signed for two more seasons, but can't remember if that included Season 6 or not.
I agree with the consensus that this was a very weak season. Aside from the fact that there were more plot holes than Swiss cheese, every major revelation was just too predictable. In addition to the Gellar thing, I could spot everything that happened in the finale episode from a mile away. There was no sense of suspense. However, I hold out hope that since Deb now knows the truth about Dexter, the story can move in a more interesting direction. But they bettery hire new writers. And give detective Mike more to do. (I didn't really understand why he didn't partner with Quinn since he was Deb's replacement and Batista is still a Seargent, but that's another topic.)
Well, my wife and I are 10 episodes down (in 24 hours) with two to go and both of us are enjoying Season 6. The only episode we found to be a bit discordant was the one with his dead brother, but it wasn't all that bad and, well, it was only one episode long.
If the last two episodes keep in line with the first ten, this will have been a decent season.
All done, and it was a decent season. I'm curious to see how the two revelations Deb had about Dexter will be handled next season, and I wonder what the writers will do with Louis Greene, Masuka's smart and mysterious lab intern. (Will he be Dexter's victim, or perhaps his foil, next season?)
I also just finished the season. Like all shows, I prefer now to wait for them to finish, then watch them straight. (Boardwalk Empire is next).
Anyway, my thoughts...
- I never did pick up on Gellar being dead. lol. Glad I avoided this thread the whole time!
- I am happy to read so many people disappointed with plot holes. I am used to people ripping on me for getting frustrated with lazy writing. For me, it's stuff like Travis waggling around a gun, but then he never uses it. He'd rather set Batista on fire than just kill him?
- I will say though, i wondered how an old man like Gellar could get so much done, but now it makes some sense.
- Could Travis have planned for Dexter to find that underground room, under the table? And there happens to be an open entrance for Dex to get out?
- I like the idea of a new direction where people, like Deb, figure stuff out.
- I never like how secondary characters have storylines that don't mesh from one to the next. Like, how they picked one season for Laguerta and Batista to be married, and now they're not. Just so convenient.
- I hated the Ice Cream Truck Killer....season 1.....so cheesy....and it made me not want to recommend Dexter to other people. It was more the character that I wanted to recommend. And I think there's only so much that can happen with this character. He needs to be put into a position where maybe Quinn kills someone improperly, and then Dexter has to kill someone he knows.
- Anyway, season was fine. I still laugh when Dexter puts on his muscle shirt. lol
