I suspect down the road they will go Canada wide and install POP's in all the headends of the major carriers, just like the other 3rd party providers do.
From what i've read on other discussion forums, it sounds like its simply rogers cable internet simply rebranded under their sister brand fido. Also because rogers completely owns the fido brand it technically is not A third party TPIA. Its not the first from rogers using the fido brand to expand their products. They also made their rogers wireless home phone under the fido banner recently too.
I just signed up for the fido internet and they do not use the rogers cable line at all they use the rogers cell towers for it.its 75 dollars a month for 75 Mbps download speed unlimited.same thing with bell cost me 120 dollars a month.and theres no commitment so you can cancel after each month if you want to.the price includes the rental of the moldem.
Hey Heans, when I put my address in for service availability says service isn't available. If they don't use cable, any idea why it would say that? I am definitely in Rogers cell area...
And that's assuming they even have cell towers in the area. Due to the backcharges, it would be too costly for them to allow unlimited data while roaming on other networks.
heans, are you sure you have fido home internet that is cellular based? as far as I and everyone else is concerned, we were told its 100% cable. what brand is your modem?
