HD Radio, like Digital Radio Mondiale, are considered experimental at the moment by the CRTC and Industry Canada. At present there is no separate licensing for the HD streams on HD Radio here in Canada.

If they were to stuff something from Montreal on an HD subchannel, I don't think there would be much fuss at the moment.

No reports of a fire, so hopefully its just testing and tweaking they are doing and they can get it back online.

I would really like to see Rogers and Bell figure out for 590/1050 how to add to the text info the time, period/quarter and score when they are broadcasting games on HD radio, in the same manner SiriusXM does. I would also like to see show information, etc. Right now its just a static name of the channel on both. CKIS-FM (92.5) actually has this information pretty good, even when their hosts are talking it switches to their name, photo, etc.

Also, when I am underground in a parking lot, I can get the AM simulcast if I am on the FM channel. Cannot get it on the AM channel.

And when Bell flipped the format on CHUM-AM from CP24 radio to TSN radio, people were complaining about signal issues. The CHUM-AM tower is out near Mississauga. The CHUM-FM tower is in Toronto on the CN Tower. Look at the different contour maps at - https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pa...HUM-AM&s=F&h=D and https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pa...HUM-AM&s=F&h=N and https://radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/patg?id=CHUM-FM&s=F so this gives a more reliable sound.

HD3 (900 CHML) on 95.3MHz Hamilton has show names during the day / evening weekdays on the display of HD radios.

I would like that to be also done for overnight broadcasts as well. Very handy.

Must say, I was disappointed this week and on the weekend the signal didn't return.

In Montreal, CBF-FM 95,1 (Radio-Canada Première) now broadcasts CBFX-FM (ICI Musique, 100,7) on HD2 and ICI Musique Classique (a web radio service) on HD3.

Maybe they are still in the testing phase. There was no CBF-HD3 today. I hope it will be brought back.
