Digital FM interference on adjacent channels is quite common. The digital station's own analog FM signal is usually also degraded.

Yes, this is why IBOC is known in the industry as "InBand On someone else's Channel".

Two items...

Since that antenna conduit fire on the CN Tower, the FM's have come back but I'm not getting any HD Radio signals on either 99.9MHz or 104.5MHz. Before, they were quite receivable.

Secondly, as to my not being able to receive HD3 on 94.7MHz, I'm a LOT wiser now, but irritated. A relative came by in a rented 2017 BMW (from the U.S.) and HD3 on that infotainment unit part of the vehicle received "The Grand" on HD3 of 94.7MHz perfectly. My radio refuses to receive it. This is NOT a signal strength issue. I suspect a subtle change in parameters have befuddled my palm sized HD Radio that I've had for 7 years. Oh well... now to search for a new portable HD Radio.... Grrrrrrrrrr.....

Pretty sure 99.9 and 104.5 stopped broadcasting HD radio after the fire. Maybe their equipment upgrades were the cause of the fire?

^^^^^ Read from posts 1359 to 1362 inclusive here:

OTA Station Status: Toronto, Hamilton

(maybe a mod can move that section of posts here....)

You have the right idea... but more antenna related...

In this week's Broadcast Dialogue newsletter:

The CN Tower says the cable that sparked a smoldering fire inside the broadcast antenna Aug. 16 has been removed. Tests continue to be run to determine what caused the plastic casing around the single coaxial cable to melt.

In reference to post #150, I travelled past Oshawa on the 31st of August and 3rd of September on a return trip from the Belleville area and heard no HD Radio on 95.9MHz. Station's analogue signal was very strong both along the 401 eastbound and 407 westbound (return trip).

Yes, CJKX does not have their HD on; it was only on during that morning that my post was there, it was turned off shortly thereafter. No idea what the case may have been, might have just been testing some equipment. But I know Durham Radio has expressed interest to the CRTC to convert CJKX into HD Radio down the road in the near future, so we'll just have to see when that may be.

On another note, CIUT-FM has applied and been granted for their HD operations to commence, but have yet to do so, similar to CJBC, in which the CBC has applied and granted the ability to introduce HD Radio, but have also yet to do so.

And I am guessing Bell is gonna halt their operations for CHUM and CKFM's HD signal for now...? Might have been smarter if the entire CN Tower could have a HD upgrade, instead of them installing it just for their own stations, which may have been the trigger for the fire, as noted in the previous posts. But hey, Bell ain't gonna pay for Corus, Rogers or Newcap stations to have them upgraded.

^^^^ Both stations you mentioned I can get from here, so I'll be keeping an eye on those frequencies. The CIUT one will be most interesting to see how they engineer the HD.

Jazz FM at 91.1 would be a fantastic addition, but then again, the CN Tower engineering would be an issue, but sure would enhance an already great sounding signal.

You can always check which stations are licensed by the ISEDC in the HD by going to this page: https://sms-sgs.ic.gc.ca/frequencySe...ffset=0&max=10

Under the call sign, type "-HD" with the capitals and then select all the information that you need, like call sign, station location, frequency, etc... then it will show all the stations currently licensed in HD. Most of them are already broadcasting in HD except for the ones aforementioned.
