Lightbulb Newbie in the FTA world

Hi, i want to buy soon a Dish and a FTA receiver... to be able to watch the maximum channel.. I live in Quebec so i want to know what is the best choice for a dish and receiver.. i want a dish type 90 cm with a motor that can change the orientation of the dish without having to go on the roof of my house. Is there any receiver that can control the dish depending wich satellite i want to catch?

thx

What type of programming are you looking for? English, or another language?

Depending on the language(s) you may want to do research on what satellites carry the programming you would like and the setup you would need for those channels.

Are you expecting to receive TV channels and programming like what is available on OTA and cable or satellite services?

Programming on KU FTA is mostly ethnic. As a start setup on Galaxy 19 at 97 degrees west. Its easy to receive and has about 200 channels.

Use dishpointer.com to locate and help you aim your dish.

FTA, Openbox S9, 33” dish, Avenger PLL LNBF. Stab 90HH.
OTA, CM4221HD, 3410 amp, 4 way split, HW-150 PVR

Some French channels on Anil F1 C-band. Need a big dish 8' or larger though. Lots of programming on various C-band satellites. PBS is on 125W on Ku would be a good start.

SBGH @ 46', 10' C-band, & various home made projects...

A 90cm dish should be adequate for the KU band. Also an HH motor to move the dish to the various sats. Checkout the site SATHINT.com for a list of sats and available channels.

The 8ft dish would be for the C band, which by the way has more channels to view.

And don't forget a receiver that is S2 (HD) capable. A lot of programs are in HD.

FTA, Openbox S9, 33” dish, Avenger PLL LNBF. Stab 90HH.
