Infomercials Invading the Web.

OK, I know that there are ads on almost all websites these days. That's how we're able to have a "free" internet. But now I've noticed that some "articles" are actually infomercials.

I have Yahoo.ca as my home page and there's usually the latest news at a glance, but for the past couple of days there was a link that looked like a story, but was actually an infomercial.

Today, there was a link to the following on the front page of Yahoo Canada.

http://ca.lifestyle.yahoo.com/fashio...k_out_in_style

The other day there was one on Winter Tires, but it was also a Canadian Tire informercial. Edit - found the link in my History.

What do you think of this trend? Is this something recent or have I simply missed the previous ones.

Perhaps I've been on Yahoo and there haven't been as many as on Google.

I've used Yahoo roughly since it was born and has always worked for me in terms of the information I want and also for searches.

I prefer the layout of the Yahoo site to Google. It's probably all in what you're used to:

Anyway, enough of this off topic discussion, let's get back to our regularly scheduled programming, er infomercials.
