Jack Layton and Dion: Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Supporters

from this Star Story

Quote:
Archbishop Desmond Tutu's commission concluded that Madikizela-Mandela was complicit in that killing and at least 11 other murders or attempted murders – sometimes because the victims were deemed (usually incorrectly) to be informers, sometimes because they were troublesome.

The commission also concluded that she took part in the savage beatings of others in the desperately poor black Johannesburg suburb of Soweto who ran afoul of her so-called Mandela United Football Club. One victim testified that she whipped him. In another instance, two youths had slogans carved into their chests and battery acid poured on the wounds.
Dion

Quote:
"There have been problems in the past, but to prevent her from coming in the country, it is something they (the Conservative government) need to justify," said Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion.
Layton

Quote:
"It's certainly not immediately apparent why such a visa should be denied," said New Democratic party chief Jack Layton.

Can someone please explain to me why Jack Layton seems to be more sympathetic to the Taliban and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela than the people they tortured and murdered?

This makes no sense to me. Its Winnie Mandela, not Nelson Mandela. This person has done some horrible things. No doubt they should be denied a visa.

That would be the 'Double Standard Clause' that states 'if you are a person of influence or money we can work something out'.

Because criminals who are poor or minorities are, themselves, "victims"?
