I know this thread is over a year old but I just had to post about my newly bought toy: A 4x4 Nutech 1/5 scale monster truck! It is a birthday present from me to myself.
The engine is a CY26cc gas powered . After burning 2 tanks od gas for the break in period, I was finally able to open it full throttle. Talk about a weedwhacker on steroids. Fun as hell. Really like my purchase.
I always wanted a RC vehicle and after searching the net all over, I finally found one in BC. So I'm glad I bought it in our country. I also wanted one that was gas powered and huge. Well it is huge. It is over 2 1/2 long, 19 inches wide and 15 inches tall for a weight of 20 or so pounds.
Came with remote and receiver but needed a battery pack.
I don't know of any racing circuit around my area but know of a few sand pits. I have been ripping the lawn in my yard so I will have to go somewhere else or my wife won't be too happy.
One thing I noticed about this "hobby" is that it really feels like I own another Harley: I got the basics but for a few $$$ more, I can customize it to no ends. Front and rear swing arms made out of hard plastic but I can buy them in an upgrade of shiny aluminum. For $60 a pair versus $10 for hard plastic.
The tire that came with it are not what I want but for $90, I can get 2 rims and tractor style tires that would fit it. That's almost the price I paid for the tires on my Fiat!
Speaking of Fiat, I'm thinking of building a super small light trailer to tow my Monster Truck in the back of it. Now that would be a crowd attention grabber. I mean the truck is not very much smaller than the Fiat. (I know Fiat doesn't recommend any trailer towing but it would be lighter than the two bikes that it can support)
Here is a question. I would like make some electricity from the spinning flywheel of the small engine. If I added some kind of pickup coil near the flywheel, how much voltage could I get? I know I would have to add some voltage rectifier and possibly a capacitor inline somewhere. I just want to power LED strip but don't want to use the battery pack on the truck.
Did I mention this thing is fast? I'm not sure how fast exactly but if this was lifesize, it would be scary!!!!
