Well that is going to be good use of the contour above ( in post 324 ), I'd guess testing should then take place once the hardware is changed over today.

Ya that will be nice as the station comes in steady for me.

...meaning another shopping channel? Or just a digital upgrade of the existing? Or could it mean some actual better programming? Just not sure of how excited to get over this yet...

Dan & Zapperman,

I heard from one of the engineers here in Bellingham that the new digital service on channel 24 will indeed be a 1080i HD on the primary channel and a 480i SD on the secondary channel. He couldn't tell me what the programming would be -- apparently there is some kind of confidentiality involved -- but he did assure me that it would not be shopping or religion. He said the programming would be "worth watching".

I know I'm churious. I've been re-scanning channel 24 because there is supposed to be some testing going on this week and I want to see if I can catch a glimpse of what the new programming might be.

Ya well your are right mind you, it may have been better to hint at change rather than state it but thats me I guess it will be LP Low power 15 ERP as that is the max allowed and then there is more to learn I am sure how ever we will have to wait till it is on Monday Tuesday next week

Ah, OK. Now my curiosity is piqued. Time to adjust my antenna slightly so I don't just pick this up on the side lobe. Fortunately, this channel and KVOS are the only ones I can ever receive 100% when I aim at them.

The power is going to be off for a couple of days so take your time.

Power to 19.1 is off but I made a typo 24.1 could be running testing.

Alex, just to clarify/ confirm - are you referring to a *new* digital service on REAL channel 24, or a change to KBCB's real channel 19 (that re-maps to 24)?

OK. Wow! I'm surprised there's not more of a stir about this. I know I'm pretty excited...

Yes, as I understand things, this is going to be a real channel 24, callsign K24IC, that remaps to 19.1 and 19.2. KBCB will continue to broadcast on real channel 19 and remap to 24.1.

Apparently KBCB is converting their existing channel 24 analog transmitter/antenna, which has been sitting dormant on Mt. Constitution since 2009, to digital.

I see they have made the changes 19.1 is now back again. What I was told is in the near future we will be turning-off KBCB s analog repeater, K38JH, which broadcasts in analog on channel 38
625pm 19.1 is off again and on again 5 min later

Here's what the FCC has on K24IC-D:

http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/tvq?list=0&facid=167292

As is normal, FCC regulatory documents seldom if ever mention the programming or any possible network affiliations.

Early this afternoon I caught both 19.1 and 19.2 and they were showing the same shopping garbage. Wait and see I guess.

If you got that on 24 remapping to 19.1 and 19.2 then they would have been testing the 24 transmitter , same antenna and combiner for channel 24 and channel 19 So they must be really getting close as now at 1006pm they are both off 24 still and 19.
