It's interesting that Rogers is applying for two out-of-town DTV signals, and no sign of when CHRO-DT, which is local to Ottawa, will build their DTV transmitter. Rogers built a large media complex a few years ago in the Byward Market, two blocks from our place, and I have to wonder whether or not there was any consideration given at the time to DTV broadcasting.

CHRO is owned by Chum Media Limited, Omni.1/2 are owned by Rogers.
Here is probably where the discrepancy lies. Chum has been extremely slow in rolling out -DT transmitters...to my knowledge, only City Toronto and City Vancouver have them???

Maybe it has to do with the purchase of the Craig A-Channels and they're running into a cash crunch? Other than T1 are there any other A-Channels that are running an OTA DTV signal?

That's correct, CBC-HD was scheduled to be up in Vancouver by now on channel 58 with SRC-HD on 16. After completing that installation the plan was to tackle Ottawa next, then keep going across Canada. Now that the CBC strike has apparently been settled we'll hopefully see the DTV stations in Vancouver and Ottawa come up in the near future... http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31444

ATSC transmitter on order for CBOT

A little bird told me that two ATSC transmitters for Ottawa were ordered in the last week or two. Given the lead time on those items is at least 8-12 wks, we'll probably see the antenna lit up maybe by early June. I hope no-one was holding their breath!

cheers,
aaron

Can you tell where CBC-HD will be from this? It looks like the new ones will be co-located with the old ones, wherever they are.

It could be that 453011 755102 is Camp Fortune but not according to maps.google.

The Camp fortune tower is 45.5029 -75.8500
I suspect that the Industry Canada position is in degrees, minutes and seconds, where you are using decimal minutes.

45 deg 30' N is 45.5N, and
75 deg 51W is 75.85W

Ottawa has two transmitter locations: many of the transmitters are located at Camp Fortune, including CBC, SRC, CTV, Global, CHCH, TVO, and TV5 but there is also a large tower in Manotick, south of the city about 20KM away that carries many UHF stations, including CHRO, CITY, OMNI-1 and OMNI-2, CITS, CDTV, the eperimental digital station, and a couple of others I can't think of at the moment...all together, Ottawa has 14 OTA signals: more, I believe, than any other city in Canada.

I'm having a little trouble deciphering what all these posts in this thread means. Do we have any OTA HDTV in Ottawa or not? Is this discussion talking about the first HDTV channels, or the first DTV channels?
There is no [H]DTV from Ottawa at this point. In Ottawa, you can get PBS Mountain Lake (channel 38/WCFE-DT: 57-01[PBS-HD], 57-02[analog channel in digital]), and Watertown's repeater in Norwood (channel 23/WNPI-DT: was 18-01 now 23-03).
