PVR Capability

Does anyone have one of these boxes, Just wondering how the pvr capability works, I assume you will need a external hard drive or save it on the cloud.

BuzzTV XPL 3000 Android IPTV OTT HD 4K TV BOX or the dreamlink box. Supposedly both have pvr capability for live streaming.

Took a look at the Buzz one.. looks interesting.

Lots of places SELLING it.. but not a lot of info about it.

The little i could gleam.. says yes a PVR in it. But its only 8g storage, so you would need to add on an external HDD.

Doesnt say from WHERE it can PVR either.. if you can PVR the IPTV or not?
(I know a lot of the android IPTV boxes i have seen cant)
It supports ATSC tuners.. so it may only be able to record from that.

Rogers 9865, LG 47LV5400 LED TV, Onkyo HT-R690.

As already stated, not much info at all. Some of the specs provided are somewhat vague and subject to speculation. The BuzzTV XPL 3000 looks like an over-hyped Android TV box with a free PVR app added. Couldn't find out what that is and it might be proprietary. The BuzzTV XPL 3000 supports USB 2.0 external hard drives up to 2TB which is almost certainly required for PVR use due to the space required for ATSC. (What, no USB 3?) One review mentions "Stalker middleware" which is an unofficial Kodi IPTV add-on.

The specs state that a "ATSC Digital TV Tuner A681 Stick" is required for TV but it doesn't say which make or model is supported. "Enhanced PVR" is mentioned but no details are given other than it is for OTA and was updated recently. The video chip in the BuzzTV XPL 3000 seems to be quite current and the rest of the specs are good for the price point. It claims to support HDR but doesn't say which protocols.

It should be noted that most Android TV boxes support live ATSC TV using a HDHomeRun tuner and the HDHomeRun app. OTA PVR capability can be added fairly easily using a cheap HTPC with multimedia server software such as PLEX or NPVR. That will serve any DLNA media player or KODI device with a wide range of media content.

Check out Google and SiliconDust release DVR software for Android TV (with HDHomeRun tuner). This requires Android 7.0 but the BuzzTV XPL 3000 comes with 6.0
