Wind slashing roaming rates

Probably bundles coming later, IMHO. but for now it looks good:

Essentially roaming data has dropped from $1/MB to $0.05/MB. For me, it is actually cheaper to roam data with Wind than use Rogers Mobile Hotspot for Internet (Pay per use, not a monthly plan) while at the cottage. If Wind is in agreement with Rogers for these new roaming data rates, then essentially for usage less than 400 MB/month (my case), Wind is cheaper than what Rogers charges their own customers ($20 up to 500 MB for month-to-month), without the continuing $5/month minimum.

This hopefully could draw Rogers and Bell into a shoving match.

These rates are made possible by temporary regulations on roaming. Wind is awaiting a more long-term plan from the government/CRTC regarding roaming rates, at which point I'm sure they'll release roaming packages like they offer in the US.

Sure makes my second cell phone I inherited from my wife redundant as it's a Rogers Paygo.... With a huge balance on it... (long story)

My main cell phone is with Wind. Has worked like a charm.

Things are looking up. :-)
