Wind may acquire Mobilicity customer base, but not debt, tax-loss or spectrum.

Many of those 200,000 subs are on low-price plans which don't turn much, if any profit for Mobilicity, which is why they're in such a hole. It's also why they would consider giving the subs away.

I wonder about the network equipment. I understand Mobilicity keeping the spectrum, but the towers themselves have value but the site leases cost money, are they going to sit on those too?

They can hold the spectrum until the moratorium runs out if they wish, but there is an excellent chance that, if we still have the same government, they still won't be allowed to sell.

Wind Mobile considers buying cash-strapped Mobilicity

Globalive Wireless Management Corp. is taking part in the court-monitored sale process of Mobilicity, which must be concluded by Dec. 9, according to Wind CEO Tony Lacavera.

"Wind requires additional spectrum in order to advance our business plan for next generation wireless services and compete long-term on a level playing field with the big three," Lacavera said in an email.
