DAVE Wireless brand reveal - Mobilicity

DAVE will be revealing its brand and logo on Tuesday, Feb. 2. There is speculation that the brand will be called Fresh Wireless.

Personally, I hope they launch their service soon. WIND is off to a shaky start, imo.

April-May is the word being thrown around another forum right now, with a launch in the GTA.

Another forum has the trade-name registration filings in the name of DAVE wireless. Combined with the CIRA registration, the name is not likely to be a surprise come Tuesday.

The name is a bit close to Loblaw's Joe Fresh label, but its unlikely people shopping for a phone will be confused by a line of inexpensive fashions. That two companies are using "Fresh" in their brand suggests to me it performs well in focus group testing. I foresee bright yellow, green and maybe blue in the logo, but we probably won't know on that bit until Tuesday.

I'm going to have a good laugh when we start hearing FRESH MOBIlE ad's on FRESH FM in London. I can only see that confusing some people here.

Mobilicity it is. They sure had a lot of us fooled with Fresh - but I knew something was up this morn when mobilicity.com redirected to a password protected website.
edit: make that mobiiicity.ca goes to protected website. mobilicity.com still is unknown url

Well when I posted another site had published the news. It now has a video clip of the media event.

The main message from John Bitove and Dave Dobbin at the event and the message on the website is the commitment to being ready before launch.

Bitove; "anything less than flawless is unacceptable". Dobbin; "you only get once chance to get it right".

This is not something they learned from observing the bungled Wind launch, IMO. It has been the strategy for months. Last summer all they would say was "we will launch when we are ready".

No surprise that details about plans, prices and phones will have to wait until closer to launch. No point in giving the competition a head start. The general principles have been known for months.

If Mobilicity has competitive voice and data plans, a variety of handsets and thorough GTA coverage, I will likely switch. WIND has been a disaster and seemingly incapable of recovering from their stumbling launch.

WIND and Mobilicity have the same spectrum (Band IV). So unhappy WIND customers can go to Mobilicity with their handsets.

Nope, see previous post. The spectrum used by Bell/Telus/Rogers was not available for any new entrants. New entrants most recently got the AWS band (same as T-Mobile in the USA).
