Quest are a canadian company but get their parts from China. I'm sure most companies do that as the smaller components are cheaper to buy from China than to manufacture. They're probably assembled in Canada, not China.
What do you guys think of Quest? I'm going to pick up the QTheatreII speaker system tomorrow, I'll let you know what I think. I currently have 2 Soma front speakers and 2 Mirage surround speakers.
The purpose of this thread is to list Canadian Speaker companies. Please discuss in separate threads
I almost bought a Paradigm PDR10 sub-woofer until I saw a big "Made in China" on the box.
Thinking that this speaker was manufactured in Canada tilted the balance until I saw the box.
In my book, Paradigm is an importer and not a canadian manufacturer.
I wish them good luck with their great business model but I am going elsewhere.
Fidelity Acoustics is a Vancouver, BC based company. www.fidelityacoustics.com
The speakers are "hi-end" and use top-of the-line components. My system consist of Naim gear, and these sound very good in my room
Energy and probably Athena are now US under the Klipsch umbrella - at least the Energy) and all the Energy's I purchased lately, expensive and lower end, were all made in China. Not that is always a bad thing. OPPO dvd players is a prime example of an excellent product coming out of China.
I have a set of Washington Labs speakers, which I purchased about 15 years ago in SK. Company located in Markham, ON. I am trying to find out if this company is still around, out of business, or taken over by another. They are not on the above list of Canadian speaker companies.
I would be interested in seeing where the speakers are made from these companies and which ones make their components- AFAIK Paradigm are still made in Canada and they make their own components- whereas other iconic "Canadian" speaker makers are made in China like PSB
Looks great on paradigm though, to be one of the best values for price/performance in speakers and still be produced here in Canada.
