Latest Speeds/Pricing On Rogers

Saw this in a full page ad in the Globe the other day and it's also on the Rogers Website:

http://www.rogers.com/web/link/hispe...owDefaultPlans

Service: Download Speed / Upload Speed / Cap / $ (without bundling/discount)

Lite: 6 / 0.256 / 20 / $38.49

Express: 25 / 2 / 80 / $48.99

Extreme: 34 / 3 / 120 / $61.99

Extreme Plus: 45 / 4 / 150 / $71.99

Ultimate: 150 / 10 / 250 / $122.99

Ultimate Fibre: (only in select areas) 250 / 250 / 500 / *Check Availability

Note: Although the speeds are "up to", I have found that unless you're on the highest service, you typically get what you pay for and often more with SpeedBoost.

Note that the download speed (with SpeedBoost) exceeds the "up to" rate. I have found this to be the case most of the time (on Express). Of course SpeedBoost is only for the first short while and then you get your "max" for longer downloads.

Note: For some speeds and Caps you may also need to purchase/rent a DOCSIS3 modem. If you still have a DOCSIS2 modem, you may be "stuck" with a lower speed and/or cap.

I am presently on Lite: 3 / 0.256 / 25 / $37.99.

I would consider requesting the Lite upgrade, or even going to Express, but my (purchased) Motorola SB5100 modem and WRT54GL router have been very reliable and I am not anxious to replace them.

It is my understanding that I would have to buy/rent a new Rogers-supplied modem to change my service profile.

I will likely go TPIA if/when I do decide to upgrade.

Yes, if you want to take full advantage of Express, you'll need to purchase/rent a DOCSIS 3.0 modem - discussed in the DOCSIS 3.0 thread.

I was recently bumped up to the higher 7Mbps upload speed on the old Extreme Plus 32Mbps package. I contacted Rogers and was advised that my download speed would not be increased to 45Mbps.

I would be kept on a 'grandfathered' Extreme Plus 32/7 package and if I wanted to take advantage of the 45Mbps download speed my upload speed would be lowered to 4Mbps.

Either they're BS'ing me or those who got their upload speeds bumped up will not be getting the higher download speeds at least on Extreme Plus.

I'm on the old Ultimate plan which is 75 / 2 / 250, I don't want to have to play another $23 for the new ultimate, but I was curious if my upload speed would be increased to at least 4up because the Extreme Plus has 4up and I'm still paying more. So I called Rogers and was informed that my download speed has not changed from 75Mbs, but I do in fact get 10 up. He asked if I wanted to upgrade to the new Ultimate package at 150 / 10 / 250, I declined (for the time being).

So after I got off the phone I thought I would do a speedtest and sure enough, I am getting 10Mbs up and 120Mbs down... Crazy!

Anyone who has a higher upstream tier will retain the higher upstream speed and will automatically have their download speeds increased by December 1st.

Thanks for the info @yyzlhr. Trying to get any info from them is like trying to get state secrets .

For anyone in New Brunswick, Rogers has a special Extreme package, 30 mbits down, 10 mbits up, 500Gig usage for 51.99$ month, not sure how long its on.

Oh really, that's a great deal. I wonder if they'll offer it elsewhere too.

I called Rogers about the 500 GB deal, and right now it is only in New Brunswick, but the rep said it may come to other parts of the country shortly.

It's too bad that extreme plus and ultimate haven't been upgraded to match that...
When you go on their website from NB, you get in the same order :

Lite->Express->Extreme->Extreme Plus->Ultimate
the caps :
25->80->500->150->250

Which looks extremely odd!

Edit : and the upload speeds are out of whack too, going up then down... why oh why!

Wonder if this thread should be un-stickey'd as these are not the current tiers anymore?

Please feel free to post the latest speeds and pricing, by province if you like. The link in post 1 seems to work for me in Ontario and I can change province using the dropdown at the top of the Rogers page.

Yeah, link does work to where the new stuff is.. the table below it, though, would only be for grandfathered plans

I'll post a table in a few mins.
