I just read the press release and went to the Bell website to get more info on the new Home Hub. I also had an online chat with a Bell rep. It was partially helpful but I still have unanswered questions.
1. Is it compatible with Fibe TV and does the new modem replace the existing Fibe TV hub?
2. Are there any technical specs available. I asked the online support person and he did not know.
3. British Telecom also has a product called Home Hub. Is it the same as Bell's product?
4. What kind and how many external connections are available for a hard drive?
Thanks, Ed
I'm in Tiny ON and do not have access to Bell Fibe (stuck with DSL). A Bell representative suggested a newer internet plan to me (with more monthly data and same access speeds) however, I had to upgrade from my 2 wire modem to the newer Home Hub 1000. I used to get 3mps download and 1mps upload (please don't laugh) however, now I can't break 1mps down and 0.50mps up? I think the Bell representative may have made a mistake (including me)? Suggestions?
I have the Home Hub 2000 and I'm trying to figure out how to make work a usb printer connected to one of the usb ports of my home hub. I've tried different methods but none seem to work. I have the Brother DCP-7060D, it's a multi-function printer. I was wondering if anybody have been able to figure this out already? if yes please share your solution.
Just to give you an idea, I tried this: [Internet] Setting up USB Printer with Sagemcom F@st 2864 - Bell Canada | DSLReports Forums and it didn't work neither.
Thanks in advance!
A heads up for Ontario and Quebec subscribers. If you're dissatisfied with the poor performance of your old connection hub modem/router, or with the high price you are paying for Bell internet, consider calling Bell loyalty dept.
I was strongly considering making the switch to TekSavvy for the reasons mentioned above as well as their current promo to provide $40 off a new modem, waive the $50 install fee and $10 shipping charge and provide a $20 gift card (total value of $120). I called Bell loyalty and described my complaints about the modem and informed them of my quoted price for TekSavvy, and they took care of me. New HH 2000 for free, better price than TekSavvy for 2 years (identical plan with 400 GB usage), and an additional discount on my Bell Sat TV for 12 months...
If you want a better price or the HH2000 upgrade, I'd recommend giving them a call.
We have had Bell Fibe service (TV, internet, phone) since 2014. A Sagemcom 2864 is currently installed. Bell sent us, *without* our explicit asking but after a customer survey, a Sagemcom 5250 as a replacement. A phone call to Bell has not clarified why the 5250 was sent to us.
AFAICS the main difference is Wi-Fi at 5GHz with some control on its usage.
The 2864 is entirely satisfactory.
Should we simply accept the free offer, install it to replace the 2864?
The 5250 is also known as the Home Hub 2000. I see no reason not to use it. Benefits of using a more recent modem/router can include higher internet speeds, better wifi throughput and better security. The wifi on the 5250 is a significant upgrade over the 2864, especially if devices that use 5GHz or AC are available.
