My buddy works for Rogers and was told by his boss that Bell Aliant has a deal that dates back many many years ago (pre Bell days, I believe) with the province of New Brunswick regarding unlimited data caps. This deal means that unlimited caps are here to stay forever for as long as Aliant (or it's parent company - Bell) operates and provides internet in the province of New Brunswick. His boss mentioned this because they were talking about unlimited data caps and this is why Rogers had to bring unlimited data caps to the maritimes (NB in particular), as they couldn't compete with caps. Hopefully this is true.
Sadly, I have it on pretty good authority that it's not true.
If Bell wants caps in Atlantic Canada, they can implement them - the question is whether they want the bad press that goes along with them.
