do you have an old receiver? or a brand new one? if you do and the softare hasn't been updated then yes, this makes sense. Try running a checkswitch, if it confirms a signal to SAT 91, then all you need is the software download. The Bell satellites were changed last spring and new software is needed to name it in the point dish screen.
If you are still not certain you have the correct bird, I would ask a friend or neighbor with Bell if you can just connect your receiver to their Dish to download the software. A Bell world should be able to help too.
Hey gang here's my situation...just picked up a new 6131 HD receiver. Picked up a new lnb and a SW21 switch. Installed everything, check switch, can get 91 just fine 90%, but it won't find 82. What's up? Do I have to register it first in order to get 82? Can't figure it out for the life of me.
OK...tried again last night for 4 hours....started from scratch...one lnb, left side (from back of dish) directly connected to receiver...no switch. NOW....all I can find is 82 @ 98% and I even found Echostar 110 @ 97%...tried for 2 hours to find 91 but couldn't. This has never..ever happened to me before..I'm lost for words...what the &^%$?...Am I missing something?
You still have not answered the question about setting the correct skew for your location. Remember when setting up your bell dish with two lnb's you have to set the skew. BTW this is a compromise between the sats when it comes to quality of signal as opposed to a single dish aimed at one sat. Aiming for 91 sat and having your skew set properly you shold pull in 82 with no problem.
Wouldn't my skew stay the same, as I already was able to pull in 91. Now it has completely reversed without any modifications. I get 82 on the 91 side and can't find 91 even by moving it. I still should be able to get some sort of signal from 91 without adjusting the skew right?
Your skew will ONLY stay the same if the Dish was skewed correctly in the first place. Although Bell installers are required to skew all Dish's, even if just 91 is required, not all do this. Hence the questions.
Sooooo...if I'm getting 82 at 98% and can get 110 @ 98% (with 1 lnb)...and could get 91 yesterday (but can't now)...I shouldn't have to adjust the skew right? I've always had no problems finding it before..this is why it baffles the **** out of me.
