Question Suit Case vs Folder Icons?

This may sound like a stupid question but whats the different between the suite case icon and the folder icon on your desk top or laptop computer on the monitor screen?

I'm not to good with computers, but I put a suite case icon and a folder icon and when I drag some my short cuts icons the ones I put into the folder went in and disappeared from the screen, but the ones I draged to the suite case although they went into the suite case the icon still appeared on the screen?

1) is this suppose to happen?

2) Does the suite case do more with other programs then a folder does?

I know this thread may sound stupid but was just wondering?

Assuming this is windows, one is likely a briefcase, the other a standard folder.

The briefcase (details above) is essentially a portable file sync tool. It has been around forever, but few people actually know about it or how to use it.
You copy files into the briefcase on a flash drive (disk in the old days ) and if you modify the files on the disk or on the source, it keeps track and will update next time you do a sync.
